"UMKA" - everyone recalls a little white bear cub from the cartoon, but in our case it’s a caterpillar miniall-terrain vehicle-amphibian. Oleg made it from outside of Moscow for a year of hard work, about which he told us at the forum under the name Shnivovod.

The result was a very fast and nimble all-terrain vehicle, such homemade not everyone can boast. Watch the video how Oleg drives a snowy field to his UMKE.



How did it all start? Of course, with the layout and calculations, drawings and the collection of necessary spare parts and assemblies.

Began construction new unit.
Width is 1600 mm.
Length is 2400 mm.
Rear-engine layout (a la PARMA).
Lifan engine with a capacity of 21 l / s.
CVT var. Clarification (That's what I ordered: Centrifugal regulator bolt, Safari centrifugal regulator (variator) (for towing towers) on a shaft of 25.40 mm,
Pulley driven assembly (agricultural Itlan-Kayur), belt 33, this is the main, then it depends on where you will put).

A ready-made track lies on the wheel, a caterpillar will consist of many such tracks. The dimensions of the truck are 400/45/27.

Trucki was cut from an HDPE pipe, the wall thickness was 27 mm, first he cut a piece of 40 mm from the pipe, and then he dismantled it along. Cut with a hand circular saw.

I got the engine, installed a belt drive on it and a pulley under the alternator belt.


Sheathed the boat on the sides, the welding is tight, the all-terrain vehicle buoyancy depends on it while overcoming water obstacles.

I welded a plug in the hull to drain oil from the bridge.

In the back, I made a drainage plug for draining water from the body.

A brief summary of the first pokatushki.
1. The suspension works, it doesn’t tear off anything, it doesn’t bend. There is no longitudinal swing when moving.
2. The control for the differential is normal, does not scour in a straight line, it is easy to steer on the primer, on the grass a little harder.
3. The boat holds water, there are no leaks. At the expense of swimming, I do not know yet, it is necessary to drive into clean water, but in the swamp it is not clear.
4. The engine worked 2 m / h, no complaints.
5. Caterpillar: a stretch made weak, tracks, fangs, all intact, no wear yet. Wheels are intact, wear is invisible, pressure is 1.5.
6. CVT: here he presented a surprise, in the form of jamming the movable plate of the driving pulley. Upon opening, a black sticky thread was found on the sleeve and shaft, after its removal the variator works.

Very good tracked all-terrain vehicles it turned out "Umka", "Parma". Many have already built their all-terrain vehicles according to their drawings and with the help of the authors. Read about other tracked all-terrain vehicles on the site.
I always admired people who are capable of making such heavy equipment. The authors are just great! Special thanks to the authors for an interesting selection of videos. Because you always want to see how all-terrain vehicles look not only in photographs, but also how they behave in the quality of transport, in motion. The device was very powerful and worthy.
Indeed, the all-terrain vehicle lacks a closed body. Perhaps it is worth making it fiberglass? A lightweight body will not affect too much the Umka cross, but it will significantly increase the level of comfort. And in the summer the body can be left in the garage.

Each extra kilogram affects the driving performance of the all-terrain vehicle, so the creators make light cabs. Drivers are either hunters or fishermen at the same time. They were used to severe frosts, although a light tent could be pulled. I agree with that.

I was very impressed with this car, but I can not agree with Taras that if the all-terrain vehicle was closed, it would actually be an all-terrain vehicle, and so the driver would freeze and could not go anywhere.
It would be nice to make this all-terrain vehicle more closed, and then in the winter to ride it cool enough and the face begins to weather. Of course, the main advantage of the all-terrain vehicle is its design. It is quite lightweight, but at the same time it has a tracked system installed, which provides excellent cross-country ability even in the most difficult situations.
