Each summer resident and an amateur gardener dreams of growing vegetables all year round, but our climatic conditions do not allow such luxury. Lucky for those who have a private house and on the site you can build a capital greenhouse and arrange heating there. This is where it will be possible to deal with all year round, but of course the costs will be very high for the construction and subsequent heating. And city dwellers only have to dream about it.
But what should vegetable growers like, and how to grow vegetables and herbs in their own apartment in the winter season. The author was puzzled by a similar idea for growing plants in the winter season in his own apartment. He began to look for answers to his questions on the Internet and realized that this problem was not his concern, and he had many like-minded people. On one of the sites, he saw a hydroponic installation made of plastic sewer pipes, adapters and tees assembled in a single structure, and having its own aeration system, that is, a constant supply of oxygen to the plant roots - this is necessary so that the plant roots do not rot from the water, because there is no land in the installation and the roots are in the water.
Aeration in this installation is carried out by an oxygen pump for aquariums. Air flows through the tubes into the barrels to create bubbles fixed just in the place where the roots of the plants are located. And looking at a good example, the author was eager to make his own hydroponic installation do it yourself. I bought a pipe and tees, in a pet store I bought a pump tees tubes and barrels for bubbles. And set about creating the installation. So, let's take a closer look at what the author needed to assemble this design.
Materials: sewer pipe, adapters, tees, pump, barrels for bubbles, tubes, expanded clay, pots, plug, polystyrene, varnish, plastic core.
Instruments: hacksaw, drill, knife.
First of all, the author cuts off the upper connecting part of the tee with a hacksaw.
Then he prepared a pot by drilling in it to the middle of the hole.
And this is what the pot already inserted into the pipe will look like.
Then he collects everything in a single design.
It uses such a pump for aeration.
Then he connects the barrels to create bubbles with the tubes.
In the installation they are located like this.
Then he makes a float to determine the water level in the installation.
In the plug, holes were drilled for the tubes and measuring device at the base of the float.
On the stock, the author made the risks of nail polish to determine the fluid in the installation.
Next, it tests the assembled installation.
And just at that time he had already planted seedlings.
I transplanted several cucumbers into the plant and the result on the face.
That's all the task has been completed, now he has his own hydroponic installation and will be able to grow plants and vegetables all year round. And no longer have to buy greenhouse cucumbers in the store.
