If you still have hardwood cuttings, do not rush to throw them away. From them you can make a lot of original and useful things. The author of our homemade I decided to make a cutting board from such scraps.
Tools and materials.
Wood trimming;
wood glue:
clamps;
Miter saw;
grinding machine with a disk (grit 320);
(grit 480).
First, bars of the same width are cut, the thickness and length can be different. For contrast, the author took wood in different shades. The alternation of light and dark tones gives the product an original look.
Then glue is applied to the bars; the whole structure is pulled together with clamps.
In order not to damage the side surface of the board, bars are laid between the clamps and the product from above and below. Tighten so that glue protrudes, the excess of which should immediately be wiped off.
After the glue has dried, it is necessary to trim the ends with a saw.
That the board was smooth it is necessary to grind it with the help of a grinder and sandpaper. Having wiped the board well and removing dust from it after grinding, it is necessary to cover it with water-repellent materials. The author of the article used hot drying oil. According to the author, she penetrates deeply into the structure of the tree and gives it a beautiful matte sheen.
By the way, do not be discouraged if you do not have the right material. Trimming can be purchased at a hardware store or carpentry shop.
