This article will discuss how to make an original concrete countertop. do it yourself. As a model, the author used the body of an electric guitar.
Tools and materials:
-Cement;
-Dyes;
- Multi-colored glass fragments;
-Sander;
-Vibrator for concrete;
-A screwdriver;
-Concrete mixer;
-Master OK;
- chipboard;
-Polypropylene pipe;
Step 1: Making the mold
Author fill form homemade made from chipboard. Fixed chipboard with screws. The author closed the screw heads with plasticine. This will help with dismantling the formwork. For places where semicircular shapes are needed, the author used a polypropylene pipe. Seams closed with sealant. Installed a reinforcing mesh inside.
Then he drew a line of the coast and laid out along it fragments of colored glasses.
Step 2: Concrete Production
The pouring mortar was kneaded in a concrete mixer. In the process of making the solution, dye was added to it. The solution was used by the author in two colors. Knead in different batches.
Step 3: Filling the form with a solution
Thoroughly filled the entire form with a solution. A trowel sealed corners and hard to reach places.
After filling out the form, it is necessary to compact the solution and remove air from it. For such an operation, the author used a vibrator for concrete. If after solidification of the solution unfilled places were revealed, the author degreased them and filled them with the solution.
Step 4: Install Countertops
While the solution solidified, the author made a support under the countertop.
Then he mounted the tabletop on a support and secured it with bolts.
Step 5: Polishing the Countertops
For polishing, the author used a grinding machine with diamond disks. With each grinding layer I used grinding wheels of lower grain size. When grinding, he paid special attention to the beach area.
The concrete table is ready. The last photo shows the place where the table was installed, before and after installation.
