Hay Press

When harvesting hay will not be amiss fixtures to get bales. This bale press has worked for three seasons. With this simple device, we fully feed our livestock. Pressed hay gives clear advantages when loading, transporting, loading into storage, and also retains its nutritional qualities better.

The loading chamber has the following dimensions: length - 2500 mm, height - 500 mm, width - 400 mm., made of profile pipe 20 to 40 mm. and sheet iron 1.8 mm thick. The piston is made of profile pipes 20 by 40 mm., The piston rod is two profile pipes welded together with a size of 30 by 30 mm. The piston moves on guide rollers. The winch force is transmitted to the piston rod via a pulley with a steel cable with a diameter of 5 mm.

After hay compression, the piston returns to its original position with a nylon cord. The winch is made of a shortened conveyor roller. The width of the winch coil is 130 mm. The coil has two sections, a steel cable is wound on one, and a nylon cable on the other. A driven sprocket with 45 teeth is welded to the side of the winch. Winch shaft 30 mm thick. The winch rotates on ball bearings.

At the helm is a leading sprocket with 14 teeth. The length of the steering lever is 1680 mm. It is made of a profile pipe 20 by 40 mm., Welded together crosswise. Rotation to the winch is transmitted by a roller chain from agricultural machinery. Loading door from the same profile pipe 20 to 40 mm.

First, a frame was made, and then sewn with wood, and on the front side with sheet metal. The press moves on wheels from the motorcycle IL.

Hello, coil width 13 cm, and diameter?

I did it myself. The design is completely mine. The press is mobile, it is transported to a mowing by a makeshift mini tractor, it moves manually through the meadow. ABOUT 90% OF MANUAL LABOR - the press is manual, the name itself speaks for itself. To exclude manual labor, you need to change the design, put in a mechanical drive and then the press will already be mechanical. The stopper decided not to complicate, not to waste material and time, this suits.

Your right, you are the author. I just have a different idea about the benefits of mechanization. This is, above all, the relief of manual labor. But plus, made and described by you personally, and it pleases me. Bravo!

You never answered, did you do it yourself?
Mobile press per exit? Hay on the field (meadow). In general, there is a place to be, although not very well done.
Basically 90% of manual labor, this is not good. Such mechanisms should not only perform heavy work, but also exclude manual labor as much as possible.
yes Stopper (brake) like, it's in Russian.

There is no main photo here, although I downloaded it first. The photographs show the main nodes. On my channel you can see the press in work.

Is this homemade? It is a pity the pressing process itself is not described.
