Connect the abandoned trolley to the bike to expand the carrying capacity for travel. This is a great way to save your cart and bikethat would otherwise be dumped. Homemade will allow you to comfortably ride your bike shopping without any backpacks, handbags on the steering wheel, and more.
Materials and Tools
• Bike;
• Shopping cart;
• Hex keys and slots;
• Kubotan;
• Stationery knife;
• Plastic ligaments;
• Screwdriver.
Step 1. Collect everything you need
Note about the trolley: do not steal it from the supermarket. The cart used in this manual was abandoned and lay idle for about a week before being picked up. The bike is already ten years old and still rides great. The author acquired a bicycle shop, so that he had access to a variety of similar materials.
Step 2. Disconnect the cart handles
Use the hex wrench to unscrew the bolts on the bike. Unscrew the handle of the cart, remove the additional side holders on the steering wheel, if any. Ideally, the diameter of the handle of the trolley is suitable without additional improvements, the author simply screwed it into place of the steering wheel. Remove the front wheel and brakes.
Step 3. Install the brakes
To attach the brakes, you will need to trim the plastic handle. The author used a saw to cut metal. Then he bent the edges of the handle with a chisel and clerical knife. The diameter of the new steering wheel did not fit slightly for the brake switch, so it was slightly adjusted to the required size with a screwdriver.
Step 4. Stabilize the forks
The steering part of the bike must be well connected, otherwise it will not tolerate the roughness of the road. If you do not attach the forks, the whole structure will not be very stable in turns. Connect them to the trolley with a few plastic ties. This stabilizes the bike and prevents the possibility of a sudden fall on the road. If desired, you can come up with a more rigid permanent connection.The steering part of the bike can move freely back and forth, however, side deviation is undesirable.
Step 5. Test the technique
The front brakes will not work if the lever is not attached to them. In the future, the author plans to improve the steering wheel under brakes. Test run showed that homemade work requires some improvements.
Management is often not obeyed; the trolley is swayed on two wheels on one side. Improving small parts in the design will help solve the problem. According to the author, such a product is an excellent option for trips to the post office and for shopping. It is also a good copy for city parades.
Conclusion
For trips to the supermarket is not necessary to purchase car. Large purchases are very easy to carry by bike, especially with your own trolley. Constructing such under the tree, you will not only gain valuable experience, but also improve your health with constant trips on the bike.
