Hello to all lovers homemade. Like a human, cat's claws actively grow all their lives. To care for their claws, cats regularly “cut” them onto hard surfaces. If there are no claws, then the cat “takes into circulation” the soft furniture, carpets, furniture legs, children's toys, outerwear and warm clothing. Of course, damage to the household property is not a way out of the situation, but it is also impossible to deprive the pet of the opportunity to grind its claws - it is fraught with the health of the cat. To make your pet comfortable in home The author decided to make a house and a scratching post so that he didn’t leave wool on the furniture, and such a decision will help you forget about torn curtains, furniture and other things that your pet likes to sharpen its claws.
It will not be so difficult to do such home-made work, if you have all the necessary tools and basic skills from school labor lessons, you can do it in a couple of hours, thereby saving money, since ready-made solutions are now expensive.
In order to make a house and a scratching post you will need:
* Plywood sheet 18 mm thick
* Wooden blocks
* Material for covering the house and the grounds (should not be electrified)
* Miter box and saw on wood
* Joiner glue
* Clerical knife
* Screwdriver and screws
* Electric fret saw
* Twine or braided cross
* Drill
* Clamps
* Electric drill
That's all the materials and tools that will help make this homemade product.
Step one.
Before you start working with the power tool, you need to wear safety glasses and protect your hands with gloves from possible splintering. First of all, you need to cut wooden blocks along the length of the future lower platform.
The dimensions of the main parts are shown in the photo.
In order to attach to the base the posts that will hold the house and the claw, you need to make holes with a drill and a small hole under the screw cap.
Step Two
Using carpentry glue, it is necessary to attach the material for covering the lower base, on which the entire structure will be built.After the glue has dried, the excess material of the sheathing is cut off with an office knife.
We fix previously sawn bars around the perimeter, after which we proceed to sawing the boards for trimming to remove the joints.
For tight contact and the smallest gaps between the parts, it is best to use a miter box and cut out the bars at an angle of 45 degrees.
All parts are fastened with screws and a screwdriver.
Step Three
In order for the house to be slightly elevated, which pets love, you need to cut out two short and one long pieces from a round bar with a wood hacksaw, two will go to the mount for the house, the other for the upper platform.
Then they need to be fixed on the screws to the base on the reverse side. On both posts we wind a small braided cable, having previously fixed the beginning on a screw with a washer.
Step Four
We use an electric jigsaw to cut out the details from which the house will be made.
The cat entry hole is made using a jigsaw and a compass for marking.
After sawing out all the details of the house, we twist the parts onto the screws and sheathe the material using carpentry glue and a stationery knife.
In order not to keep the skin while the glue dries, we clamp it with clamps.
Step Five
Now you need to make the top platform. To begin with, we will make a mount that will hold the base and prevent the cat from falling on it, as safety is above all.
We do not make a through hole in the top platform with a feather drill clamped in the drill chuck, this is done in order to hide the caps of the bolts.
We cut out a hole for the diameter of a round bar on a smaller wooden plank, this will be the fastener. After that we connect the fastening to the upper platform with screws and fasten it to the bar, which we had previously installed on the base.
For greater reliability, it is better to use wood-carved bolts and tighten with a wrench.
On this, a homemade house and a claw-claw are ready, catnip will help your pet to quickly learn a new place.
Thank you all for your attention.
