In fact, there is nothing complicated. Unfortunately, the author did not give information about the size of the workpiece, but I think this will not be a big problem, the sizes can be calculated by yourself, based on the length and diameter of the bolt used.
So, the first step is to take a piece of a wide slat, the author used a pine. The width of the rail should be more than 2.5 cm, so that it would be convenient to work with it. You need to mark the rail and use a hacksaw or a jigsaw to make incisions, as shown in the photo below. The rail can be clamped in yews, so that it would be more convenient to make cuts.
After the workpiece is ready, it is necessary to process it. Using a knife, you need to cut the knots and delaminations, then trim with sandpaper and a file. The processed workpiece is placed in a pan, pour boiling water to half and cook. The author recommends cooking for about 2 hours.
After two hours, you need to get the workpiece out of the water and clamp it in the vise with the part that you cooked, laying on both sides of the wood substrate. Clamp the workpiece as shown in the photo below.
Now we gradually twist the vice with the workpiece and the compressed clamped end a little more than the middle. That's why it was necessary to cook the workpiece, the wood was saturated with water, steamed and very flexible, so do not be afraid to break the edge of the workpiece, the main thing is to put the substrates and tighten the vise slowly and gradually, with short breaks, so the author recommends!
After the workpiece is pressed, leave it in this position for a day. The author says that four hours is enough, but then advises you to leave it exactly one day! )
After a day, we unwind the vise and get our workpiece.We select a long drill bit, slightly larger than the diameter of the bolt that we will use and drill two holes in the center of the workpiece, as in the photo below. It is necessary to drill through an embossed edge and preferably in parallel. The author drilled with a machine, but you can also use a conventional drill or screwdriver.
In the drilled hole, again, through the edge is taken, we pass the bolt. This is the secret of this toy, of course you can break off one edge of the workpiece, drill holes and insert a bolt, and then glue it with super glue, but this will not be right and the glued area will be evenly noticeable!
Now we need to return to the taken edge the former shape. To do this, again place the workpiece with the bolt in boiling water and cook until the edge is leveled. During cooking, the wood is steamed, gathers moisture and takes its original shape!
On this, our toy is ready. It remains only to process it a second time, give it a rounded shape and open it with varnish. By the way, I personally met such toys on AliExpress, so the Chinese make good money on this. This I say for those who like to criticize! )))
