A radio amateur, but any craftsman who often uses an electric soldering iron, constantly encounters overheating of the tip of an electric soldering iron, one of the annoying reasons for poor quality soldering. In order to get rid of this, not very personal phenomenon, I had to assemble a simple, but long-tested in practice, voltage regulator of an electric soldering iron. You’ll collect this scheme,
having in their storage: electric soldering iron,
screwdriver
a knife
any switch
and one diode with an operating voltage of up to three hundred volts and with a current of half an ampere (minimum requirements).
A switch is mounted in the gap of any soldering iron conductor, a diode is mounted on the switch terminals.
When the switch is turned on, the electric soldering iron receives its 220 volts and enters normal operation. When the switch is off (standby mode), the soldering iron is fed through the diode, receiving half the voltage for normal soldering, but does not cool down and does not overheat. We started the next stage of soldering, turn on the switch and the electric soldering iron, after a few seconds, it is ready for soldering again.
And here’s the result, while I was finishing my tea mug, you managed to test the device created do it yourself.
