You can do many amazing things out of gas cylinders. Therefore, never throw away your old gas bottle if it is already very rusty or even has holes. Typically, various barbecues and other stoves are made of such material. This time we will look at how to make a unique lamp out of an old gas cylinder.
As a source material, the author decided to use a cylinder with a capacity of 13 kg, the weight of the manufactured lamp is 7.5 kg. In this regard, you can hang it if you wish, it will be especially interesting to look on the street. Homemade made in the form of a large bottle, and the device shines pointwise. The project has some precautions due to the fact that gas is usually left in the cylinders, follow all instructions and be careful!
Materials and tools that the author used for homemade:

The manufacturing process of the lamp:
Step one. We prepare a gas cylinder

The first thing you will need to do is completely empty the gas bottle. Do this outdoors, away from open sources of fire. Even if the cylinder has already been lying for a very long time, all the same, traces of gas may remain in it, which will certainly lead to explosion when cutting.
For safety, the author ties the cylinder to a tree, and then, using an adjustable wrench and a long lever, unscrews the tap.
When gas vapors come out, turn the bottle upside down and drain all contents. This substance also burns, be careful! For final cleaning of the cylinder, prepare hot water, the hotter it is, the better. Pour water into the gas bottle to the edge, wait a bit, and then drain. For reliability, the procedure can be repeated several times, but if the water is hot enough, one is enough. Thanks to the heat, the remaining gas evaporates, and what does not evaporate will flow out with water. You can add a little detergent to the water.
Another good option to protect the cylinder is to burn it in a fire.In addition, heating will allow you to burn paint from a balloon, which is mechanically quite difficult to clean off. Set the container upright with the crane turned off in a deserted place and lay around the firewood. Set firewood on fire and run away to a safe distance. If the gas is drained, then the cylinder should not explode, but it is better not to approach it until the fire burns out.
Step Two We cut a gas cylinder
If you are absolutely sure that there is no gas left in the cylinder, you can cut it. The author cuts off the entire lower part. First, draw a line with a marker. To make it smooth, hold the marker with a clamp, and then slide the balloon towards it and rotate. You can cut it with a cutting machine or even a grinder.
Step Three Drill holes
Drill holes of the diameter you need in the tank. The author’s holes are 50 mm in diameter. To drill them, you need a fairly powerful drilling machine. Always lubricate the cutting part with oil, so it will be better cut, and will not overheat.
In total, the author drilled 40 holes, these are 5 rows of 8 holes. To make everything turn out beautifully, it is advisable to initially mark out the places for the holes, and only then drill.
Step Four We drill a hole under the cartridge
In the upper part of the container, where the crane was previously located, the author decided to install a cartridge. To the cartridge went into place, the author drills a hole on the drilling machine using a special nozzle. In principle, this can not be done, just pass the cable through the top of the container.
Step Five We clean the paint
The paint from the balloon needs to be cleaned, because if this is not done, the new paint may peel off along with the old. To make this easier, you can pre-burn the metal with a blowtorch or even at the stake. For rough work we use a grinder with grinding discs. Next, we change the nozzles, gradually reducing the abrasive, in the end the author used a nylon brush for the final cleaning of the metal. For processing in hard-to-reach places, you can use nozzles for a drill.
The inside of the container must also be cleaned. In the end, everything should be cleaned to a mirror shine.
Step Six Painting
Getting to the painting. The author paints the inside and the outside. If you want to paint both parts in different colors, then when painting, just glue one of the sides, as the author did. Degrease the surface with acetone or another substance, and then glue one side with newspapers or similar materials. We proceed to painting, conveniently paint from a spray can or compressor.
When one side dries, proceed to painting the other. Remove the protective film, degrease and paint. So that the already painted part does not stain again, it must be closed.
When the paint has dried, the author applied a coat of beauty varnish on top. Also do not forget to paint the handle of the lamp.
Seventh step. Putting the lamp
First of all, prepare the bulb holder, the author will mount it in the upper part of the cylinder. We insert the cartridge and fix it with glue, epoxy glue is best for these purposes. We wait until it is completely dry.
In the upper removable part, on which the handle is located, drill a hole and then pass the cable. The end of the cable is connected to the cartridge. The author decided to radically secure the lamp and decided to ground it. For this, a hole was drilled in the housing and the corresponding wire contact was connected. You will need to install a switch and a plug on the cable. Screw the bulb and test your brainchild!
Bulbs for such a lamp can be used any, such as incandescent, so LED and daylight. If you want to hang the lamp, do not forget that its weight is 7.5 kg, so the mount must be reliable! It will be very sad if such a lamp falls on someone's head.
