Have a nice time, Lord! Nowadays, they are increasingly gaining popularity. crafts from foam. Processing and cutting of any figures and objects with a clerical knife is not a very pleasant process. During work, a lot of residues are obtained, and in principle it is not very convenient to work with a knife. And today I will show you the idea of how to make a very simple cutter for polystyrene foam. Have a nice viewing!
Necessary materials:
- plywood
- 9V power supply
- wire
- nichrome wire
- bolts with nuts
Step 1: First of all, I took a piece of plywood, size 190 * 150 * 10 mm. This will be the base of our cutter. Then I drilled a hole, as shown in the photo. And pressed a nut into it in order to tighten the bolt in the future.
Step 2: Then I made such a blank from the wire, in the form of the letter “G”. I took the wire from the remains of the fence net.
Step 3: Then, taking a 9V power supply, I connected one wire to the wire blank. Then he found the center at the base of the workpiece, and drilled a hole. Using a clerical knife, I made a groove under the wire.
Step 4: From the old soldering iron I took the nichrome wire of the required length. I made a loop at one end and put it on a wire blank, and secured the other end with a bolt and connected the second wire of the power supply. The nichrome wire must be in tension. A detail from the fence wire absorbs the process of working with foam and pulls a little nichrome.
Step 5: Using a glue gun, glue the wire and make small legs so that this design does not slip on the table.
And now our foam cutter is ready!
