Crusher - a grinder of branches, a "nozzle" for the do-it-yourself grinder

Good day, dear the inhabitants of our site!
This article will be interesting to everyone who has a large amount of wood waste, or to those who harvest wood for the winter. The author of the channel "Make it Extreme" made a powerful chopper of branches, scraps of boards and the like. The unit easily turns this into a small sliver and sawdust.

After such processing, the raw materials can be used, for example, for the manufacture of fuel briquettes.
By the way, the grinder can be removed and used for its intended purpose in a matter of seconds. And this is important, because sometimes, in the manufacture of various devices based on it, it can even be disassembled. So this homemade product can be safely called the nozzle for the grinder.

To create this unit will require the following materials.
1. Steel sheet at least 6 mm thick.
2. Steel corner, or profile pipe.
3. Steel plate about 50 mm in diameter, for turning.
4. The grinder.
5. Chain for chainsaw.
6. Two flanges with bearings.
7. Paint spray.
8. Steel channel.

Instruments.
1. The lathe.
2. The welding machine.
3. Cutter for metal.
4. A grinder with conventional and stripping discs.

So, the author proceeds to manufacture.
First of all, it makes from one big chain about a dozen small ones. Each of which consists of 11 links.


Slices a piece of steel round with a circular saw.

And, holding a lathe in the chuck, it begins to grind the main part of the future crusher - the shaft.



Periodically water the workpiece coolant (cutting fluid).


He achieves that the chains fit tightly on the outer diameter of the workpiece.

On both sides grinds the shaft under the diameter of the bearing.



Bearing with flange tightly seated.

Turns the shaft over, prepares and cuts the threads for the adapter sleeve.



Thread ready, check connection with coupling.


Next, thread the clamping ring.


And grinds the ring itself.

Here is a shaft turned out.

Proceeds to its assembly. Screws on the clamping ring.

Then flanges with bearings.

Adapter sleeve.

And trying on a grinder.

The undercarriage is ready.

Now the author needs to make dividing rings, for this he grinds the pipe so that the chain snaps tightly. But it rested not with “teeth”, but with links.



The diameter is adjusted, you can cut the rings. Their thickness is such that the two chain knives do not touch each other.



Now the author can collect the cutting part of the shaft. Puts two rings on him.

Then a chain and one ring.

Repeats until it reaches the desired amount.



The last one to wear another wide ring, probably he had to adjust to fit.

And twists the clamping ring, squeezing all the elements together.

So, the chopper's heart is ready.



The next step is the manufacture of the frame. To begin with, from the channel, the author makes racks for the shaft.
It cuts the channel with an angle cutter.


By installing a metal bit on the drilling machine, it makes landing holes for the flanges.



On the same machine, drill holes for bolts.



Assembles a rack, fixes the flange with bolts using a wrench.





Racks are ready.

Inserts the shaft into the bearings, fixes the adapter sleeve.



Starts to assemble the frame. Welds the lower, then the upper corners to the channel.




As the base will use a steel sheet, installs a frame with a shaft on it.


Boil all the connections.


From the steel sheet makes the back wall for the feed tray. Clamps it in a vice and bends in several stages, in the lower part it is necessary to get a bend. It is needed so that the branches and sticks are better pressed to the cutting part.



Sets the wall in its place, its bend is clearly visible.


Welds on the back and front walls.


Then and lateral, the last wall presses with a clamp.





Boils all the seams.



So, the finish line. the construction is ready, the surfaces are cleaned. The author, unfortunately, did not show the moment how he made the mount for the grinder and the outlet.

Tearing branches and small pieces of boards into chips, everything is fine!
Probably, in terms of improving the quality of the products obtained, or rather, obtaining a finer fraction, it is necessary to slightly modify the feed tray. Namely, make a notch on the bend of the back wall, or weld the spikes. This will not allow the saw to stretch the whole branches, namely to cut with knives.

I agree - most of the large equipment is ordinary beds, cast iron industrial casting.
In general - pampering, and even in particular. I will explain. The size of the device is ridiculous, even smaller and more inconvenient than the factory shredders - by several branches, although the execution is enviable. Living in a village, I admit the unconditional benefit of this kind of device, especially if we keep in mind nature-friendly types of agriculture. Mulching and composting - this is where such a device will not be priced. However, the appliances advertised in magazines like "My Beautiful Garden" are ridiculous. A plastic contraption the size of a small vacuum cleaner with a narrow neck ... Do you need to load one branch into it? The chopper will be really useful in the household, if you can load an armful of branches or straw at a time. In terms of size and power, a motoblock is seen as a drive to it.
Generally speaking, the “described” performance - forehead, without a twinkle and special invention, is not painfully technological - having such a machine park comparable to a small production, it is even strange to offer such reports, in the same way, you can go through the camera to any machine-building enterprise. Although, I’m probably grumbling with envy - it’s envious that the people can afford to do practically useless things. Yes, and the author of the retelling is not very pleased with the monstrous amount of photos fixing every obvious movement.

Do you have any grits? There is also a high-revving engine. Isn’t it easier not to ruin the grinder, but to adapt the engine with a grinder?

As an option, it’s fine, especially if the knife is shaped, but pay attention that this product is declared as a “chopper”, I think the use of “saw blades” is the best for the tasks, with the exception of the complexity of manufacturing.

I don’t know where you are, they saw home-made machines there, probably they were guided by the name “make it extreme”, so this is advertising. Your objection that the long chain will break, it seems to me not worthwhile, at least because the centrifugal force (there is no desire to get into the directories) is unlikely to break the chain, in my opinion it will most likely break self-riveting and the design is such that there’s simply nowhere to fly the chain.

Impressive .... the power of the machine park. It is extremely laborious to implement, not many can repeat it. And how to sharpen chain rings? In my opinion, it is more technologically advanced to wind a long chain, paired with a cable, for example, or to make a spiral guide right away.
