Device 1. Alternative replacement for drill and barb
When it is necessary to make a hole in thin metal, and a drill or drill of the right size is not at hand, you can do this in the following way.
For its implementation, you will need only 3 items, which are in abundance in every garage: bolt, nut and hammer.
First of all, we select a bolt with a diameter suitable for our hole.
Then we take the nut a little larger than the bolt, and put it under the part so that it is exactly under the future hole.
We substitute the bolt to the part (in the place where it is necessary to make a hole) and hit it with a hammer. Thin metal is easily cut in this way, and we get even holes of the right size.
By the way, the same way you can work with a thicker metal (up to 2 mm.) Only in this case you will need something harder than a regular bolt. For example, instead of it, you can use the old gas distribution valve as a beard.
Fixture 2. Second Generator Belt Life
The generator belt is another detail that can come in handy on the farm even after it has served its term in car. After replacement, such belts are usually thrown away or simply dusted in the far corner of the garage. And in vain. After all, they consist of strong fibers, and if they are dissolved, you can get an elastic and very strong thread, suitable for various purposes.
For example, you can use such a thread to check the health of bearings in the mechanisms of mounted auto equipment. We wind it on the shaft of the corresponding part and pull it. If its rotation is accompanied by an increased level of noise (hum, whistle and other sounds), the bearing must be changed.
In addition, excellent anti-slip tool handles are made from the fibers of the generator belt.
Fixture 3. Holder for sword
Need to cut the thread, and the holder of the sword somewhere lost? You can simply and easily make a new one on your own. To do this, we need an elongated nut and a pair of bolts, suitable for it in diameter, as well as a drill and vice.
Clamp the nut in a vise and make a hole in the center equal to the diameter of the sword.
After that, we screw the bolts on both sides of the nut, and insert the sword itself into the central hole. The result is a universal holder that securely fixes any suitable nozzles.
In addition to the sword, you can insert removable bits from the screwdriver into such a device. It will help to cope even with the most “resistant” screws and bolts.
Fixture 4. Cheap fuel for the garage
If the garage is heated with a stove, then every year a fair amount of firewood is required for this purpose. But there is cheaper fuel. To do this, you need to mix the ash and “working out” (used engine oil) in a tank suitable for the size of the stove to a mushy state.
We place the tank in the oven and use its bends to set fire to its contents. After ignition, the mixture (where ash acts as a kind of wick) will burn for a long time and generate a large amount of heat.
The consumption of this alternative type of fuel is approximately 1 liter per hour. Another plus - it burns almost smokeless.
The regular use of such a fuel composition can significantly reduce the consumption of firewood for heating the garage.
Tool 5. Sharpening device from a drill
Do not rush to throw out broken drills from the drill, they can still serve for household purposes. Due to the high-strength material used in their production, as well as the sharpness of the edges, they are excellent for use as a sharpening device for knives and scissors.
You just need to equip the drill with some convenient handle. The thread from the alternator belt, mentioned above, perfectly copes with this role.
We hold the knife in one position and drive it with our improvised sharpener along the edge of the blade that needs sharpening. After processing with such a simple device, the knife will become as sharp as if it were sharpened with a grindstone or a special grinder.
We hope that these simple devices will be useful and one day will be useful in the household. In addition, their manufacture will help to use numerous parts that are not used in the garage, and make room for a new tool.
