In this article, the author of the Banjo Show YouTube channel will show you how he made the original oil lamp from brass sanitary fittings. The result was a very interesting lamp in the style of steampunk. Such a little thing is clearly suitable for non-standard interior design.
Materials
- Paraffin oil
- Second glue
- Brass plumbing elements (angles, connectors, tees, plugs, bends, faucet)
- Steel adapters from 1/2 inch to thin hose
- Cotton rope
- Liquid fluoroplastic sealant of threaded connections.
Instruments, used by the author.
- Wrench
- Stationery knife
- Lighter.
Manufacturing process.
The author begins to assemble the base of the lamp. To fix the parts between each other, he uses a liquid PTFE sealant. You can use the fum tape, but it will be visible, and the product will lose its appearance. Although, the use of sanitary tow from long flax fibers can give an interesting look to the lamp.
And the liquid sealant will absolutely not be noticeable. Having missed the thread of a half-inch tee, he screwed the drive into it.
Another tee is screwed to the drive.
Screws two half-inch corners into the side openings of the second tee, tightening them with a key to the desired position.
Now the long tee is screwed into the first tee.
Then, on the edge of a long run, sets a corner.
After another short bend, he tightens the faucet, having previously closed it, and filled its valve with super glue so that it will never be opened accidentally. This completes the manufacture of the stand.
Now the author will collect the upper part of the lamp, which will contain paraffin oil. Tee is screwed to the tap.
An adapter with 1/2 inch per inch is installed in the lateral branch of the tee.
An adapter is also screwed onto the top of the tee by an inch, this will be the neck for refueling.
Now the distribution comb is screwed to the inch side adapter. It is advisable to put soft material under the key, so as not to spoil the appearance of the brass product, not to scratch it.
In the side hole of the comb sets the plug with a rubber seal, tightens it with a key.
From a cotton rope, cuts three wicks of suitable length. Then it inserts them into the steel adapters on the hose.
Now the author puts the wicks inside the comb, and twists the adapters.
To close the filler neck, use an inch plug.
So, the design is completely ready.
The author fills the lamp with paraffin oil, it does not emit any unpleasant odors during combustion, does not smoke, and is not explosive like gasoline.
After waiting until the wicks are saturated with oil, he sets fire to them with a lighter. Here is a stylish and unusual lamp turned out by the author. Its cost, of course, is very high, but it is very suitable for a good and beautiful gift.
Thanks to the author for the original idea of a designer lamp!
Good mood and good luck to everyone!
