Many of you love various items for an unusual design. This also applies to lamps, and candlesticks.
In this article, Alexander, the author of YouTube channel "Alex Shovel" will tell you how he made a wall lamp from an old iron.

So, the author purchased an old coal iron on a metal receiver. But his condition will clearly require restoration.
To begin with, the master brushes the rust from the axes of the top covers with a wire brush.
Then, after impregnating the WD40 axis, it opens both covers, the main and the additional. True, for this I had to make a lot of effort.
Now cleans all accessible surfaces with a grinder with a metal brush.
For the last stage of cleaning, he uses a rust converter, moistens them with all surfaces, and leaves to sap.
Meanwhile, the author decided to make a lost wooden handle. He grinds it out of a round log and polishes it.
Excess parts of the workpiece are cut on a band saw.
He tries on the workpiece to the iron, and drills a through hole in it.
Inserts a copper wire into the handle, and rivets it on one side.
The excess wire is cut off by a grinder, and rivets the second side.
The iron is finally cleaned and ready to be painted. The master applied black spray paint.
When the paint has dried, it applies a small touch of golden paint with a brush.
Now it impregnates the handle with linseed oil, and the iron is restored to a decorative look.
The next step will be the manufacture of suspension. Using a circular saw, Alexander cut blanks for her.
In one of the halves of the future base, the master drills pocket holes using a special jig. You can read about the manufacture of such a device in this article.
Then it pulls together the halves with self-tapping screws. This type of mount is very convenient and reliable.
To give the product a more interesting shape, the master drew contours by hand, and cut off the excess with a jigsaw.
Now follows another interesting processing step. This is wood brushing.To do this, the master uses a grinder with a metal brush, and processes the wood along the fibers. This way the depth of the wood texture is achieved.
This is followed by an additional step of firing the workpiece.
Alex adds two more elements - a shelf, and a cross bar. He simply screwed the shelf with screws on the back side, and nailed the bar with two nails with decorative hats.
That's almost all done. On the underside of the shelf, he added an forged corner. Firstly, it is beautiful, and secondly, the iron weighs more than 10 kg, a shelf may simply not be able to withstand such a weight without a corner.
Fastened the eyelet, and hung the whole structure in its place in the summer arbor.
It remains only to light a candle, and put it inside the iron. It looks like this ancient household item should look like. Of course, you can set the LED backlight there, but the natural fire cannot be replaced. So, the master managed to breathe in a second life of a thing that almost got into melting.
