I welcome all fans to craft, I propose to consider instructions for making a wonderful lamp in the style of "steampunk» do it yourself. Homemade the author made using CNC, but you can cope with the help of simpler equipment, but it will take more time.
The main material is wood, the base is made of it, as well as brass. A decorative coil was made and a copper tube. The light source is two Edison lamps, it is better to use LEDs, they take little energy and do not heat up, which is dangerous. Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Wood base
First of all, the author made a wooden base, we choose a board from good dense wood, oak, maple and so on are perfect. The author leveled the plane of the board with the help of a milling machine. Next, the milling machine drilled holes in the board, which will serve to fasten a variety of elements. Of course, all of them can be drilled with a conventional drill according to the layout of the paper.
At the end, the workpiece was sanded and saturated with dark oil.
Step Two Brass flat parts
The author also cut out flat brass parts using his milling machine, this is done quickly and accurately. You can cope with the work manually using a jigsaw machine or similar tool.
After cutting, all parts were carefully sanded manually with sandpaper with a grain of 320 units.
Step Three Turning works
The author turned some of the details on a lathe, the material here was a round round of brass. On some parts, a thread is cut using a lathe, it serves to fasten elements with nuts to a wooden base.
Step Four Podpatronnik
In the upper part under the bulb holder, the author made a wooden part, it was machined on a lathe. After thorough polishing, the tree is impregnated with oil of the same color as the base color.
A channel is drilled along the product through which the cable will pass.
Step Five Decorative grill
We make a decorative lattice, here the author needed brass plates, copper wire, as well as transitional parts made earlier on a lathe. We bend the wire in the form of the letter "G" and solder the entire structure. At the end, we bite off the excess parts of the wire with wire cutters.
Step Six Coil and other parts
We make a coil for homemade work, here we need a copper tube. The author twisted a coil around a plastic pipe and stretched it as he needed. For fastening the coil to the ends of the tubes, special fasteners with thread are soldered. As a result, the coil will be securely screwed on the back with nuts.
You can also solder parts from the tubes located at the bottom of the lamp. These parts mimic running pipes or something like that.
Seventh step. Polishing and assembly
Before assembling, the author polished all the details to a mirror shine on a polishing machine. Of course, brass and copper will darken over time, so that this does not happen, it would be good to cover the metal with oil or varnish. Well, for lovers of natural patina, you can leave everything as it is.
All elements of the lamp are fixed with nuts and self-tapping screws. Above the lower cartridge, the author put a finished decorative mesh under brass. The wires from the cartridges were soldered by the author so that all the bulbs work only together. It would be nice to use LED bulbs; they will not heat up as much as incandescent lamps. That's all, the homemade product is ready, everything looks delicious!
