Almost the entire bed is made of boards, even massive legs, and those are made by gluing boards. The author obtained such a beautiful and interesting drawing by burning wood. The wood texture burns out more and after grinding it is clearly visible on the material. The design is assembled without a single nail, all on the stud joints and carpentry glue, not counting the lamellas, they are screwed on with self-tapping screws. Bed manufacturing process:
Step one. Legs
The author did not show the process of making the legs, but in general there is nothing complicated. Our legs are massive, and they are made of boards, they just need to be glued together to obtain the desired thickness. Further, the material is cut on a circular to the desired shape and polished. In the legs we need to make grooves, here we need a tape cutting machine. Some details will need to be modified manually using a chisel and a hammer. The frame is made of a thick wide board, it should fit snugly into the grooves in the legs.
Step Two Headboard Detail
At the head, the author cut out a beautiful detail as a decoration. You can make it on a tape cutting machine. However, depending on the thickness of the material, you can handle a manual jigsaw. This part will be attached to the head by means of a spike connection and wood glue. We cut the corresponding holes and install the spikes.
Step Three Primary frame assembly
You can assemble the bed frame, but so far without glue. The boards go into the grooves and are fixed here with a spike connection with glue. As a result, the knot is pretty strong.
Step Four Other parts manufacturing
We also need to cut parts to assemble the wall at the head. Here the author sets the boards of an interesting curved shape. Precision is needed here so that the parts fit exactly together. Also in the center are ordinary plain boards of different thicknesses. Everything looks pretty impressive.
Another important detail is the leg tips. The author has them in the form of pyramids. You can cut them with a circular saw, take into account the pattern on the material, look at the photo how it should look. Tips are also installed using a tenon adhesive.
At the end, we go through the bed with a milling cutter to round sharp edges.
Step Five Firing and impregnation
We burn the wood to get an interesting pattern. After firing with the burner, the material should turn black. We grind the charred wood, as a result we get a beautiful texture. The longer we sand, the brighter the material will be.
As a result, the tree is varnished or saturated with oil. The material after that looks just fine. When the oil dries, the bed frame can be assembled. We tighten all the nodes with clamps and let the glue dry.
Step Six Lamels
The author used plywood as lamellas, we cut it into necessary pieces with a circular saw and grind it. The lamels are screwed with screws. Through the central part of the bed passes a beam of timber for attaching lamellas.
