Hello everyone, in this instruction we will look at how to do bike airborne. The design is good in that it is quite simple, and the engine can be easily removed if necessary. Of course, the propeller efficiency is low, but there is no need to make a chain transmission and other complicated components.

As an engine, the author used the internal combustion engine from a brushcutter. Its power is more than enough for the author to ride a bicycle in a straight line quite quickly. Of course, the bike doesn’t ride on every mountain and is unlikely to ride on the sand, but after all, we always have the standard foot gear working. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail.



Materials and tools used by the author:

Manufacturing process homemade:

Step one. Choose an engine
We select a motor for homemade work, the author used a unit from a petrol scythe, but you can also adapt a chainsaw or other engine. The engine from the trimmer is conveniently mounted on the trunk of a bicycle, has an elongated shaft, which allows the propeller to be located far from the wheel without alterations.




Step Two Air propeller
Let's make a propeller, the author used sheet steel as a material. The most important thing is that the screw is securely fastened to the engine, otherwise, if this rotating at high speed comes off, it will fly into your back or ricochets to passers-by.
Also, the screw must be well balanced, otherwise inevitable strong vibrations.











We make a model of one blade and then draw a screw on it on a sheet of metal. Well, then the Bulgarian comes to the rescue, cut out the screw profile.The work turned out pretty rough, we finish the screw with a grinder with a grinding disc, and also work on a grinder. The author grinds the blades so that they "cut" the air in the direction of rotation, this will increase the efficiency.

Step Three Screw hole and blades
We drill a hole in the center of the screw, we select a diameter such as that of the “Bulgarian” adapter, most likely it is 10 or 12 mm. Then we check whether the hole is clearly drilled in the center by hanging the screw on a screwdriver. If both blades weigh the same, then everything is fine and there is no imbalance.
















We set the desired angle for the blades, for this we make cuts and bend the blades. And to fix the screw in the current position, weld small triangles of metal in the area of ​​the slots. Then we carefully grind the welds so that the whole structure looks monolithic. And again we check whether the screw has an imbalance.

Step Four Axis
The propeller will be removable, it will be attached using the “Bulgarian” adapter, the author welds it to the axis of the motor shaft (more precisely, to the clutch axis).



Step Five Engine installation
We install the engine on the trunk of the bike. To do this, we will need mounting brackets, and we will fasten them with the screws that hold the gas tank and other components on the engine. We cut the corners to the desired size, and then weld to the trunk. We clean welds so that everything looks neat.















Step Six Painting
Paint the trunk so that everything looks "like from the factory." We also paint the motor shaft and propeller. Now everything looks great, and will not rust. When the paint dries, the engine can be installed.




Seventh step. Finishing touches and tests
At the end, we will install a throttle handle on the handlebars of the bicycle, hold the cable through the frame and fix it with plastic ties. We join the cables and make sure that nothing wedges anywhere. Near the carburetor, just in case, you can install an additional spring that will pull the cable. We carry and connect the ignition cable.














Homemade ready, you can experience. Fill the tank with a mixture of gasoline with oil, start up and you can go.
