Metal pencils were invented before graphite, even some famous artists used them. Today, such a pencil can be ordered from China. But the presence of lead in the "lead" scares many. Author Instrictables under the nickname themakershow offers the design of a homemade pencil with a “stylus” of solder, which can be modern, lead-free.
He is going to receive "lead" by molding. As a model for making the mold, he takes a well-sharpened ordinary pencil. Wraps a foil around it:
Takes off:
Fastens, trying not to deform, pours in the solder using a soldering iron:
Allows to cool, removes the finished "stylus". Everyone who knows how to solder knows why the master chose aluminum foil for the mold, and why the solder did not stick to it.
He takes the tube, which will be the pencil case, inserts a ball from the same foil into it, pushes it a little inward, and fills it with solder:
On the opposite side, pour hot melt adhesive:
And until it cools down, puts the "stylus" in place:
Grinds homemade sandpaper, then polishes:
And checks in action:
According to the owners, despite the similarity of the trace of such a pencil with a trace of ordinary graphite (only metallic luster is added), it is difficult to erase it with an eraser.
