Stand for working with a model

After a long silence, Sergey Shevyrin showed us all how he made a stand for the repair and construction of aircraft models.

The whole structure is made of polypropylene pipes.
The main load is assumed by the stand of 63 mm pipe.

The author suggests taking this pipe 900 mm long. This pipe must be bored from the inside, in a way convenient for you, up to 50 mm, so that another pipe can enter it.

In the prepared pipe, 6 holes are drilled into which pieces of pipe-pipe are inserted, of a smaller diameter - 19 mm. Couplings are welded onto the upper nozzles in advance. Pipes with couplings are welded into the holes.

Couplings are not selected with a right angle, but with an angle of 60 degrees.

The holes are drilled at a distance of 200 mm from the upper end of the pipe and 100 mm. from the bottom edge of the pipe.

Pieces of the pipe welded in the lower part of the main rack are slightly longer - 300 mm. They are welded without couplings.
Stand for working with a model

The upper welded corner couplings are connected to the lower, cut pieces of pipes. The length of these pipes must be measured.
To connect the central rack to the tripod, pieces of tobe and 3 tee couplings are used.

From below, legs are welded into tees.
Everything is shown in the photographs.

For the design on which it is directly installed model, tees are required - three pieces and 4 right angles - 25 mm in diameter. The whole structure is welded.

The dimensions of the upper part of the structure are selected taking into account the sizes of the models that will be assembled on this rack. The upper part is installed on the central rack through an adapter, which is cut from the pipe - 50 mm in diameter.


The upper part of the structure is turning.




All welding works are carried out by a special apparatus for welding plastic pipes. The devices exist in various designs.





To ensure the safety of the model, pieces of insulation for pipes are put on all the details of the upper part of the structure.




Sergey suggested this design as one of the options. All sizes are determined at your discretion.
The upper part can be made replaceable for models of various sizes. Can be made sliding, versatile.You are invited to the principle - design improvement - the business of each of you. It all depends on your imagination, ingenuity and skill.
