Nowadays, electric bicycles are becoming increasingly popular, such vehicles do not need rights, and engines and other accessories can be ordered from China. Of course, if the engine is installed too powerful, problems with the guardians of the order can still arise.
Almost everyone can install an electric motor on a bicycle, in this instruction we will consider one of these homemade. The author installed a rather powerful 750-watt engine on his bike. The power of such a motor is enough to accelerate to 55 km / h, which is even a lot for a bicycle, since it is light. The bike is so powerful that the transport even stands on its hind legs. The design flaw is that the classic pedal drive had to be removed, so do not forget to charge the battery on time! If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail.

The process of manufacturing an electric bike:
Step one. Install the engine
First of all, we’ll install the engine, and we have it quite powerful, so we need to fix it securely. The author's power unit is mounted in two places. Remove the driven sprocket from the bicycle, and weld a corner to the axis. We drill holes in the corner, now you can bolt the engine here.
The second fixture is mounted on the frame of the bicycle, and it has the shape of a fork, which is clamped with a bolt and nut. We weld the plug from steel plates and fasten the engine to this bracket. Everything is holding quite tightly.
Step Two Chain
Do not forget to pull the chain, it is important to make sure that it does not fly off. First we spin the rear wheel manually and see if the chain drive works normally, then it will not be superfluous to turn the wheel and the engine. The author did not indicate the chain transmission ratio, but the drive sprocket on the axis of the engine is slightly smaller than the driven one.
Step Three Battery and controller
We install a battery on the frame, it’s the author’s homemade, assembled from cells from laptops and other equipment. Often, even in faulty laptop batteries, there are many quite working cells. Of these, it was possible to assemble a 48V battery, the capacity of which was 30 Ah. The battery case is made of boards. The author fastened special brackets to the bicycle frame, which they glued with double-sided tape. We put the battery on the brackets and additionally fasten it with screws.
We also install a controller for the brushless motor on the battery. In the end, it remains to connect all the wiring and install electronic throttle.
Step Four Charging and testing
We charge the battery, the author charges it to a voltage of 52V, then we need a special powerful charge.
The bike is ready for testing, the torque is quite high, the bike even stands on its hind legs. The homemade car accelerates quickly, the maximum speed is 55 km / h, and if you make several gears, it is quite possible to accelerate to higher speeds, but this is already too dangerous for such an easy mode of transport.
