50cc Moped Piston Coffee Machine

Hello everyone, I propose to consider an interesting and useful homemade, which can be made from an old piston system from a moped or scooter. The author used a piston system of a four-stroke engine, nothing really needs to be worked out here, since the head with valves is removed from the cylinder. Everything works fine, but the device looks in the style of "steampunk"Or the like. Homemade assembly is also quite simple, such a device will certainly not be left without the attention of friends and acquaintances. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail.

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- piston from a moped (the author has 50cc, 4-stroke);
-;
- copper pipe;
- springs and washers;
- ring spanner (or other part for connecting rod);
- boards for the base;
- metal grill and other little things.

Tool List:
- brush, cleaner for carbon deposits and rust;
- lathe;
- a hacksaw for metal;
- marker;
- drilling machine;
- tap for threading;
- epoxy adhesive;
- welding machine.

The process of making a coffee machine:

Step one. We prepare the piston
First of all, we will prepare the piston, we need to wash and clean everything as thoroughly as possible, otherwise the coffee will taste like oil, carbon and gasoline. Compression rings can be removed from the piston, as it will be difficult to insert into the cylinder with them. But the oil scraper can be left, they will create a small seal, and the piston with them will go into the cylinder easily.

For cleaning we use various detergents, rust converters and so on, soot can be cleaned with sandpaper. We bring everything to shine and wash it in hot water.

Step Two Install Portafilter
Next, you need to install it on the cylinder, one can be bought separately or found from an old coffee machine. The parts need to be adjusted to each other so that there are no gaps anywhere, although it will be possible to use gaskets or sealant. The author uses a lathe to slightly bore the inner diameter of the cylinder to set the desired part.
Well, then it remains to securely fasten the parts to each other. For such purposes, the author drills holes and cuts the thread, the parts will be pulled together by four screws.

Step Three Filler neck
We make a filler neck through which we will pour hot water into the system.To do this, you need a copper tube and a suitable container, which will serve as a watering can or neck. Of course, the tube does not have to be copper, it just looks beautiful.
We put the other end of the tube into the lower part of the piston, for this we drill a hole in the cylinder. We seal and glue parts with epoxy glue, it is not afraid of high temperature. If desired, parts can also be soldered.

Step Four The foundation
We make the basis for the coffee machine, its author assembled from thick boards. We cut a square hole in the center of the base, a lattice with holes is installed here. Thanks to this grate, the spilled coffee will go down, but there you can put a tray or plate under the machine. The author also screwed a homemade handle to the base, it brings its own charm to homemade.

After that, you can attach the stand to which the coffee machine will be attached directly, fasten the stand with screws to the base. Well, we attach the machine to the rack with long screws from the same engine piston system.

Step Five Lever arm
We make a lever and a connecting rod with which we will press on the piston. The author adapted a spanner wrench as a connecting rod; it is attached with a piston pin. We make the lever from a suitable metal rod, and weld a nut to the end. For fastening we use an “U” -shaped part and springs with washers, which are needed to hold the lever in the center of the part.

Step Six Assembly and testing
The coffee machine is almost ready, it remains to collect everything. We glue the water supply tube with epoxy glue, as for, it can also be put on epoxy or silicone sealant. The pressure lever is pivotally connected to the connecting rod with a screw, that's all, the homemade product is ready!

We put coffee in the portafilter, the more it will be, the stronger the drink will be. We also need boiling water, the author for these purposes has an excellent home-made Turk in the same style. Next, fill the neck with water and lower the lever. As a result, hot water passes under pressure through coffee, and at the outlet we have excellent coffee, and if the design was poorly washed, then the coffee will also be with the aroma of gasoline and motor oil.

In general, everything turned out pretty interesting, I hope you liked the project too. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!

My grandmother said: "Translate good into shit... ", well, everyone understood! But you can try steampunk to taste! smile

the main coffee lover criticized everything, did the coffee run out? uhh, sorry xaxa
from piston system

I know the ignition system ... More power, cooling and lubrication ...
... Shpaka did not take ...... I don’t know the piston! )))
... First, tell how to make a system out of a CPG (cylinder-piston group) ... Otherwise, nobody has it! )))) What should I do with a car? )))
Sorry ... But the coffee theme was wasted in vain ... I will spread it ...))))
Coffee machine .....

That is, you fill it with NOT GROUND coffee, pour cold water, press the button ... Coffee is ready ... So? )))
Sorry, but what you described here doesn’t even pull on a coffee machine !!! This is rather a French press !! But nothing at all ... does not even remotely resemble a coffee machine !!!
