Micro-cassette USB stick

Micro-cassette USB stick

The site presents several original cases for a USB drive, in the style of steampunkin a chewing gum case, etc. In this article, we will discuss how to install a USB drive into the body of a micro audio cassette. Such tapes were used, and maybe even now, are used in voice recorders. You can buy cassettes with a drive (samples can be seen in the latest photos), but the master decided to make such a device on his own.

Tools and materials:
-3D printer;
-Knife;
-Rule;
-Scalpel;
-File;
-Sandpaper;
-Nippers;
-Cassette;
-USB drive;

Step one: disassemble the cassette
First you need to disassemble the cassette. If there are mounting screws, unscrew them, using a knife, disassemble the cassette into two halves. The magnetic tape needs to be removed.

Step Two: Measure
Takes measurements inside the cassette and the USB drive. Makes calculations and draws a drawing of the necessary details.

Step Three: Printing
Prints details on a 3D printer. Installs bushings into the body of the USB drive.

Step Four: Modernizing the Cassette
Installs the drive in a regular place. The drive must exit the housing when turning the sleeve. Removes all partitions that interfere with drive rotation.

Step Five: Podkassetnik
In order for the cover of the cassette to close, you need to remove the pins from the inside.

Step Six: The Label
Prints labels. Sticks them on a cassette.

All is ready. Subsequently, the master used the device in a car radio.

Original, but inconvenient: you can’t connect anything to the next computer socket.
