Help connect a 3G antenna

In general, there is a 3G antenna with a gain of 21 dB. You need to connect it to the modem without going out to the antenna. I found the “test” connectors inside, felt it, pierced it, eventually soldered the antenna wire directly to the modem’s internal antenna (the connectors go directly to it). I tried to connect the antenna to the connectors, the result is unchanged.

The essence of the problem - it works very poorly, the tower is only 3 km, even with direct visibility the gain is sooo weak. The cable length does not matter, even on a meter at least a 10 meter result is the same.
In reality, what amplifies perfectly is 2G, a 100% signal.

There is some kind of box on the antenna that the cable is connected to, I haven’t seen this before and that the hell knows inside.
I tried to put the modem in the place of the antenna where this box is, there is no signal, but it should be! Or not?

The 3G network operates at such radio frequencies: 1965-1980 / 2155-2170 MHz.


The cable is 50 ohm, and interestingly, the antenna works only when the inner core is connected, when the outer braid is connected it does not work at all! What a paradox?

I still have the only way to access the Internet - USB modem. I tried many different models of modems and antennas. It turned out to be the best (in my conditions) M150-2 with Harchenko’s antenna, screwed directly to the modem and a short HF - cord in the connector. And then - active (with amplifiers) USB - cables to the computer. True, now we have an order with the signal, just stuck any (unlocked) modem into the USB port, and let's go! smile

Dima, this is not a paradox. This antenna does not work. Not agreed. Wrong frequency, etc. .....
Brave people, poke "connect" to a working transmitter of the modem ... It used to be, conn. inconsistent load - output stage to out. At a frequency of 2 GHz !! any conductor to the connector is not a consistent inductance !. There must be an RF connector. And so - losses in the eyeliner ...
And the sense of such an antenna is not much. And there are no 21db
