Manufacturing process.
First of all, the author retreats on each side by 6 mm, and marks it with a caliper.
Then he cores and drills a pair of holes 5 mm in diameter.

Marks, and rounds the handle of the tool, grinds the edges.
Then heats the near part of the hook with a gas burner, and bends it.
