DIY Glass Piggy Bank

Hello dear readers and the inhabitants of our site!
In this article, the author of YouTube channel "George Kosilov" will tell you how he made a huge piggy bank for small things from glass block.

In addition, the author will share the method of drilling glass. Such a piggy bank can easily be made in home conditions.

Materials
- Glass block 24.5 X 24.5 X 9.5 cm
- sheet plywood
- Silicone sealant
- Wooden corner
- Scotch tape
- Stain
- PVA glue.

Instruments, used by the author.
-

- miter box
-
-
- Hacksaw
- Universal gun for sealants.

Manufacturing process.
So, the author has acquired such a glass block. This is a fairly cheap building material, its cost is about 100 rubles.

Now you need to drill a hole in it, into which the coins will fall. For this, he will use a crown with a diameter of 40 mm.

The drilling process with such a crown goes well even "dry", except that a bit too much dust. Therefore, it is desirable to add water.

Moreover, the drill confidently coped with its task, even without a center drill. However, it did not slide to the side. The main thing here at the beginning is not to exert much effort.

Then the author cut eight blanks from a wooden corner, and cut off the edges at 45 degrees using a miter box.

He cut blanks from sheet plywood with an ordinary cutting disc.

After processing with sandpaper, he drilled two holes in one of the blanks, and made a slot for coins.

Then, using silicone sealant, I glued the plates to the edges of the block.

Also, corners were glued to the sealant, and fixed with adhesive tape.

The master also closed open corners, but fixed the parts on PVA glue.

After impregnation with a black stain, and the first coins thrown into the piggy bank, it became clear that it would take a very long time to save. After all, the internal volume of this glass block was 3 liters!

So using a set of crowns you can drill very thick glass.

Thanks to the author for a simple, cheap, and unusual idea for a piggy bank!

All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!

Here the managers were sensible ..
Grandfather said: a commissar came from the province (now Ulyanovsk) in a leather jacket and with a platoon of Red Army soldiers. Let's choose a committee of the poor. Well, who was chosen there, and how did they begin collectivization, you understand! smile
Of mine also dispossessed, although they never hired laborers, all with their hump! dontknow

But mine is not. Here the managers were sensible ... They created a collective farm "on the basis" of my grandfather's cows and horses, plus the cattle of the rest of the village ... Grandfather was appointed chairman, as the most suitable manager, who showed (on time)) loyalty to the Soviet regime.)))
When in the early 2000s my brother and I had a large farm in the same village, there was a curious case ...
He drove a wino. For theft. Father came to ask for him (born in 1907)
- Vladimirovich! (This is he to me!) Do not expel my Ivan! He has already been kicked out from everywhere! Nobody will take it! ...
I say: "Grandfather Ivan! (They were all Ivanes there)))). Do not even ask !!! Forgiven many times, but there is a measure!" ... With these words, I just turned away and left ...
Grandfather, shaking my wickedly after me with a stick, hissed: "I found a council for my great-grandfather, and there is one for you !!" ...
As they say now, he smiled .... He stopped ... He returned ...
Affairs cringed ... And I, laughing, said to him. "Grandfather Ivan! And you noticed that you once labored for my great-grandfather, and now your son is for me ?! And even the Soviet government did not level you - my great-grandfather still remained your boss !!!
Understand grandfather, it's not about us ... It's about YOU! "....
My great-grandfather was a very wealthy man
They also dispossessed mine, although they never hired laborers, all with their hump! dontknow

And 5 penny coins I have not come across for a long time, by the way, somewhere I came across information that for a bucket of five cents at the points of reception of metals they give more money than at the box office at face value!

My great-grandfather was a very wealthy man. Grandfather said that after they “drove out the first Soviets” (Brest was part of Russia until the 18th year), money (“kerenki”) quickly depreciated, although the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth bought them from citizens. So, they wanted to wallpaper the walls. (Unheard of luxury! But they could afford, the rich were - the grandfather (then the guy) even had his own (!) Bike and chrome boots for every day!)))) (Read: "Bentley" and a suit from Versace)) )). So, having counted, we really understood that if you exchange money for the ruble, it turns out to be three times cheaper than buying wallpaper)))). But they didn’t stick it ... We decided to moderate the ardor, and they beat the walls with a patterned cloth.))) It was cheaper than paper wallpaper, though, anyway, oh, very expensive! As my grandfather said - commensurate with buying a house.)))
And 5 kopecks - not a coin?
The question was about real walking:
which coin (in real turnover)
And 5 penny coins I have not come across for a long time, by the way, somewhere I came across information that for a bucket of five cents at the points of reception of metals they give more money than at the box office at face value! smile
We have one penny, with a dollar of two rubles
Moscow Rye magnet 26.99 rub. for 0.5 kg April 21, 2019
what little thing out of circulation will be gradually withdrawn!
It was specifically about 5 coins (not long ago) and 10 kopecks! smile
And 5 kopecks - not a coin?
10 rubles - is, if I am not mistaken, about a sixth of the dollar? ... Then it's too early to withdraw, I think ...
We have one kopek, with a dollar of two rubles (two hundredth of the dollar!) ... Although, the largest coin is two rubles.))) Five is already a bill.
And now what is your coin (in real circulation) the largest and smallest?
10 rubles and 10 cents! smile

The work, of course, was credited, but I heard from the corner of my ear that the little thing would be gradually withdrawn from circulation! smile

And now what is your coin (in real circulation) the largest and smallest?
Somewhere, in the very beginning of the 80s, the elder brother of a classmate (suitable for his fathers by age))) made a similar piggy bank from a glass block. Only he did not make any frames - just cut two coin slots on top. (If anyone remembers, in the USSR there were such blocks that had two chambers. He threw rubles into one (mainly “olympic”)) to the other, like almost all then - the rarest coin - 10 kopecks.
Ka-a-a-ak, this seemed cool to us !!! (Although the word "cool" was not used then in that sense)))) But in some kind of thrilling delight we were-and-and !!!
How did he cut the holes - it remains a mystery ... Did it somewhere at work ... Something disc, judging by the fact that the length of the holes to the bottom was reduced ... I imagined a red-and-white Bulgarian . (I already saw this tool then. But it was huge (230 ???) and the workers called it a "pipe cutter.")))) But the truth has sunk into oblivion.))))
This brother was quite a “cool drowning” (again, this word)) and he barked viciously at us-small fry !!! ... But we did not lose hope !!! Everyone got a glass block and brought it to Igor ... Say, when the brother is in a good mood, he will ask him, and he cuts through ours too ...))))
P.S. That guy lives in that village ... He remained a lord .. Life did not work out ... Brother and his family left somewhere ... I don’t know if he is alive ...
You need to somehow go ... Chat "for the zhist" .... Interesting ... did he attach our glass blocks somewhere?)))) Or are they lying rooted to the ground behind a hut? ... then, after the army, I remember seeing them there ...))) Since then, however, more than a quarter century has passed ...))))
