I welcome fans to craft, this time I propose to work with epoxy. We will make small homemadewhich can be used as a night lamp. But the main idea is to preserve collectible in epoxy model, in our case it’s small motorcycle. The homemade product looks interesting, but the project is not complicated in the assembly. The backlight is made from a miniature garland that runs on batteries. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail!

Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Formwork and casting
First, we need to make a rectangular formwork. The material is suitable acrylic or other similar sheet material, which does not adhere to the resin. We cut the material, glue the formwork with superglue, and then seal the joints with a glue gun or silicone.
We prepare the motorcycle, drill a small hole in the bottom of the formwork and fasten the motorcycle with a screw. Of course, we cover the screw with hot glue so that the resin does not leak. Everything is ready, you can cook and pour epoxy. Typically, a hardener is added to the resin by weight, so you will need an accurate electronic scale. In order for air bubbles to better escape from the resin, it can be warmed up or place the resin before pouring it into the vacuum chamber. Also, air bubbles can be driven out of the upper layers with a hairdryer.
Step Two Formwork dismantling and completion
When the resin has completely hardened, the formwork can be disassembled; acrylic should lag behind the resin without any problems.For easier disassembly of the formwork, the material can be heated with a hairdryer.
After that, we proceed to grinding the product with sandpaper or a grinding machine. We need to align all sides to get even planes. Of course, after grinding the resin will become dull, we gradually reduce the graininess of the paper and finally polish the resin with a polishing paste. After good polishing, the resin should become transparent.
To return the crystal clearness to the resin, cover it with varnish, here you will need a bottle of acrylic varnish.
Step Three Preparation of the foundation and assembly of homemade
The base is round, made of wood. As a material you will need sticks, which we must glue into a wood board. Before gluing, immediately make a place under the battery compartment with a chisel or other tool.
Having glued the wood board, cut it to a round shape and grind it carefully. At the end, we impregnate the entire base with epoxy resin, varnish or oil. But you can not soak in oil the place where the epoxy part will be located, otherwise the glue will not stick.
We organize the backlight in the stand, as conceived by the author, two bright LEDs are installed as the basis, we use a battery-powered LED garland as parts. Glue the battery pack on hot glue or silicone.
Well, then it remains to stick to the base our part cast from epoxy. In order not to glue the base, glue it with masking tape.
After drying, the homemade product is ready, with the backlight everything looks pretty interesting.
