The peculiarity of the table is that the boxes in it slide on large wooden dowels without the use of any other sliders and fasteners. The author twisted the frame with screws, disguised with dowels, the whole structure looks quite interesting, minimalistic and simple. The process of making a table:
Step one. Countertop
First of all, we will make a tabletop, we will need to assemble a wood slab. We are looking for boards of suitable thickness, of course, the thickness of the boards should be the same, the author drives the boards through the thicknesser. Next, the boards need to be glued, for this special dowels are used. The author cuts the grooves for the spikes with a milling machine, as a result, they will all be done exactly at the same distance.
We use carpentry glue and tighten the plate well with clamps during drying. Then the slab will be trimmed and sanded.
Step Two Frame and legs
We assemble the frame for the table, here we need a beam, in the presence of a circular saw, the bars can be cut from thick boards. We align the bars and cut the workpieces.
We will need blanks for legs and frames, in the frame we will need to make recesses under the dowels, along which the shelves will slide. The author drills these recesses on a drilling machine.
When all the parts are ready, the frame can be assembled. Everything is twisted on self-tapping screws that are installed in countersunk holes. A furniture dowel is clogged above the self-tapping screw; as a result, it seems that the table is assembled without a single nail.As for dowels, we also cut them to the desired length and fasten with screws.
Such dowels can be machined on a lathe or searched in a hardware store for shovel cuttings.
Step Three Crates
We collect the drawers for the table, here we need plywood, such material is strong and durable. We collect the boxes on the screws, on the sides we fasten the guides that will allow sliding on the wooden dowels. We also make front boards for drawers, do not forget to cut recesses into them so that the drawers can be pulled out by hand.
Step Four Completion
Everything is ready, soak the wood with oil, and if you want to give the desired shade to the tree, you can use a stain. The author decided to paint the boxes green, everything looks quite interesting.
