DIY oak mug

Hello dear readers andthe inhabitants of our site!
In this article, the author of the DENDEN TV YouTube channel will tell you how he made oak mugs that can be used even in a bathhouse.

Materials
- Solid oak
- Beeswax
- stainless steel tape
- Decorative nails
- Clamps
- Reinforced tape
- PVA glue.

Instruments, used by the author.

- Thicknesser, circular saw, belt sander
—
- Hammer, mallet, metal scissors, ruler, marker.

Manufacturing process.
So, the master begins with the preparation of wood material. First, it processes the blanks on the thicknesser, then cuts them into planks.

Then it trims them in length, and cuts a groove for inserting the bottom at the bottom of each of them.

Now each bar is fixed on a special conductor, and cut at an angle of 20 degrees on each side.

The author does not yet have a milling table, and he had to improvise a little. He drilled a hole for a milling cutter in a chipboard sheet, and fixed the milling cutter on the reverse side.

Now you can process the outer parts of the planks using a radius cutter with a thrust bearing.

All 17 plates are ready, and the master proceeds to glue them. To do this, he glues each bar with the bottom to the tape of reinforced tape. Lubricates the joints with glue, installs a bottom disk in the groove, and folds the structure.

In order for the gluing to be reliable, he tightens the workpiece with a clamp in the upper part.

Similarly, the bottom is pulled together.

While the glue will dry, the master decided to start manufacturing pens. First, he marked out the template on paper, and transferred the drawing to an oak board.

Then he cut the workpiece with a band saw.

All faces, except for joints, are processed by a radius mill.

The glue dried, and the author milled the upper and lower parts of the mug. Then he removed the clamps.

Now he begins to polish the outer surfaces of the mug.

I tried on and cut off a stainless steel tape.

Attached two rings to the handle.

He put the rings with the handle on the mug, and polished the surface with an orbital machine.

He drilled holes in a steel tape, but not particularly affecting the wood itself. Then he boarded up decorative carnations.

Using a gas burner, he burned the outer and inner surfaces, and sanded them with fine sandpaper.

I placed pieces of natural beeswax at the bottom of the mug, melted them, and soaked the mug inside and out. Now she is not afraid of humidity, even when used in a bath.

These are the beautiful mugs for beer or kvass obtained from the master.

Thanks to the author for an interesting technique for making an oak mug!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!

And what kind of glue, and what chemistry it will release into your drink.
Well ... In the steam room, for example, you don’t bring the usual one much ... That’s why putting it there in the bathhouse is another question ... Although ... Who knows, the author suddenly loves the steam room with beer come in and drink it there quickly until it boils! )))))))
