Alteration of a scooter from benzo to electric traction

The site already has an article by this wizard. In it, he shared the experience of converting a motorcycle to electric traction. This article will focus on the scooter. So, as she does not pull on a full-fledged article, I decided to place it in the “tips”.

So, let's begin.

The old scooter, the master dismantles and brings the frame to normal. By the way, he writes that the scooter is produced from them, in India.

Removes all engine parts that are directly related to benzoin, namely the cylinder, with head, piston, exhaust pipe, filter, etc. Also removed some trim details. Instead, he made others from a PVC pipe, bending it and painting it white.

The adapter plate was made of aluminum to mount the electric motor to the engine. Instead of a crankshaft (in the absence of a piston it is also not needed) a straight shaft of a metal rod was installed. This shaft will be connected to the engine using a gear nylon gearbox. The adapter plate will be installed on the side of the engine fan, as shown in the photo. The scooter will be equipped with a 3000 W valve electric motor (BLDC).

Then the master collects the power unit.
The motor was mounted on an adapter plate. Connecting gears are installed both on the engine and on the driveshaft. A well-lubricated nylon coupling is installed between the shaft and the motor. Then the electric motor is mounted on the shaft and bolted to the crankcase. The master remakes the variator. Sets the tension rollers and winds the belt behind them. Regulates belt tension. Now the variator will work as a direct drive.

In place of the cylinder screws the plate. Establishes a wheel and a variator cover.

Mounts the engine to the frame. For power, in the trunk, installs four 12V batteries.

Connects everything, installs plastic. Unfortunately, the master is silent about the throttle.

All is ready. This scooter has a speed of up to 55 km / h, the master is silent about how long the batteries last, but in the future he plans to replace them with lithium-ion ones.
All work on the alteration of the scooter can be seen in the video.
