Surely almost every one of you at least once in your life used a ladder.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel George Kosilov will tell you how it can be made from simple and affordable materials.
This homemade product is very easy to manufacture, and will require a minimum of electric tools.
Materials
- Wooden beam 40X50 mm
- Shanks for shovel 28 mm
- steel plate
- Acrylic varnish, PVA glue
- Sandpaper
- Wood screws.

Manufacturing process.
So, for the side guides, the master will use a pine beam 50X40 mm and a length of about 3.5 m. From the bottom edge, he retreats 330 mm, and then puts marks every 350 mm.
Marks the centers on both guides, checking their symmetry.
For the crossbeams, the master will use wooden cuttings with a diameter of 28 mm. But he did not find a feather drill of suitable diameter, and he had to make it himself from a 30 mm drill. It was of poor quality.
After regrinding, drill alignment even improved.
Now the author proceeds to drill blind holes in the guides.
In order for their depth to be the same, the author applied a simple technique. He planted a steel strip under the beam. Now, when drilling, the tip of the drill simply rests against it.
All facets of the guides are processed by a manual milling cutter with a radius mill.
Surfaces are ground by hand with sandpaper. For this, the author has such a simple holder.
Now it's the turn of the cuttings. It is from them that the crossbars will be made. The length of each workpiece is 400 mm.
The cut points are lightly sanded on the machine.
Before assembling the stairs, the master covers all surfaces of the rails and cuttings with acrylic varnish.
The crossbars sit very tightly in place.
However, the author decides to additionally fix them with PVA glue and self-tapping screws.
In this way, one rail with crossbars is assembled.
Both parts of the stairs are connected.
So, the total weight of the finished product was 7.5 kg.
Here is such a fairly light and long ladder turned out.
It remains to make hanging hooks for her. They are made of steel plate.
Then they are fixed in a vice, and bent with a hammer.
Next, holes are drilled and countersinked for fixing screws.
Both hooks are screwed to the bottom of the shelf, and you can now hang a ladder on them.
I thank the author for the simple but useful design of the wooden staircase and fixtures for it!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
