The material will be simple and short, but I hope many will find it useful. It will be about reworking and improving the suction cups of the “recorder, navigator, etc.” on the windshield.
Over time, my suction cup ceased to fulfill its functions and the recorder sometimes fell off on the go and hung on the cord "which is very dangerous at speed." Nothing helped: neither rubber gaskets nor surface lubrication with all kinds of fluids “brake fluid, liquid silicone, saliva, etc.” Having completely disassembled the suction cup, it turned out: the plastic insert-washer in the membrane itself “fell because of the sun, or frost ...” And I decided to bring this “product” to mind and make it reliable. To do this, everything was needed, nothing: a stainless steel washer and a furniture photo-section tie-rod bolt.
Materials:
A piece of plate or a finished washer of approximately 25 mm in diameter, preferably stainless steel
Furniture intersection bolt coupler
Instruments:
Small side cutters or manicure tweezers
Soldering Iron 60/80 W
Phillips or conventional screwdriver
So:
1. We pick out the entire filling from the suction cup: a plastic ring, a finger with a slot, a spring and a lever “photo 04, clickable”. All this in the trash.
2. We select according to the diameter or make our own washer "preferably from stainless steel, t to iron will be constantly rusty)" with a hole
3. Insert the part of the intersectional furniture coupling bolt (which is with external thread) into the washer and solder its cap with a soldering iron.
Then gently weave the washer inside the membrane “having previously removed 8 internal legs of the jumpers with side cutters inside it”.
4. We put on top an empty housing without filling, and screw in the second half of the bolt (with internal thread).
5. Putting all the bracket assemblies together. All!
Now, instead of the lever, you need to tighten with a cross-head screwdriver (without fanaticism :-))) the bolt and suction cup tightly fastens to the glass.
Thus, the dependence on the state and force of the spring and the factory plastic washer has disappeared.
