Many of you like to use unusual wooden dishes in everyday life. It perfectly complements the interior, and looks very impressive.
In this article, the author of the garage 11 YouTube channel will tell you about an unusual way to cut a bowl from a solid oak board.
For this homemade product, no lathe or milling machine is required. Almost all work is done with a grinder. Also, this technique can be applied to other carpentry.
Materials
- Oak plank
- Sandpaper
- Oil for wood impregnation
- Paper towels.
Instruments, used by the author.
— 125 mm 3T saw blade
— Bulgarian
— Electric jigsaw
— Electric planer
- Ruler, square, pencil, marker.
Manufacturing process.
First of all, the master marks the inner contour of the future bowl, and draws a marker around it.
The main focus is the use of this trident disc for the grinder. With its help, the author makes the main sample of the bowl in an array of thick oak boards.
Next, the outer contour of the bowl is marked indented from the inner by 20 mm. You can cut it with the same disk, however, it is easier to do this with an electric jigsaw.
The workpiece is fixed on the goats, and its outer contours are rounded with an electric planer.
In the same way, the external sides of the walls of the bowl are pre-processed.
The master decided to make the outer walls slightly concave. The workpiece is fixed with a clamp on a workbench, and the walls are pierced with a trident disc.
Here is a rough draft of the bowl obtained by the author.
Following is the grinding of all surfaces with a grinder.
Then the bowl is ground with fine sandpaper by hand. For better grinding, it is worth wetting the surface of the bowl with water, leaving it to dry. In such a simple way, the pile rises, and after drying, the product is finally polished.
The last stage remained, this is the final impregnation of wood with oil.I have already mentioned several times an excellent recipe for making such impregnation of beeswax and rosehip oil. It was proposed by Vladimir Natynchik. It has excellent moisture-proof properties, and is also absolutely safe for contact with food.
Excess oil is removed with paper towels several hours after application.
As a result, the master got such a beautiful and unusual bowl. There is another way to make deep plates, about which I already talked about in a recent article.
I thank the author for a simple but very interesting way of turning the bowl!
