Universal crusher for agriculture




I welcome all fans to craft, I propose to consider instructions for the manufacture of a simple and universal crusher do it yourself. Such a machine can be used for crushing thick branches, dead wood, reeds, corn stalks and other purposes. The resulting products can be used for feeding livestock, as an example, chopped stalks of corn, and chopped dead wood can be used as bedding. The higher the engine’s revolutions and the higher its power, the smaller the machine will cut and the thicker the branches will be able to split the device. As a basis, the author adapted an asynchronous motor, the power is unknown, but you can roughly estimate the size. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- powerful asynchronous motor;
- a piece of an old hacksaw blade (for a knife);
- Sheet steel;
- bolts and nuts;
- corner;
- pipes for legs;
- paint for metal.

Tool List:
- grinder;
- welding machine;
- drilling machine;
- vernier caliper;
- marker, tape measure;
- vise;
- whetted.

Manufacturing process homemade:

Step one. The foundation
First of all, we will assemble the basis for the machine, the engine, base and other units will be attached to it. As such a basis, you will need two pieces of thick sheet steel, the author cut two squares of the same size. In the sheets we drill holes for the engine shaft, as well as holes for the bolts. Two sheets will be pulled together by bolts, and as spacers we use long or regular nuts, depending on the desired clearance between the plates.










Step Two Knife
We make a knife for the machine, it will rotate inside the case and crush everything that meets its path. The knife must be made of thick steel, then it will be strong, will not bend, and additional kinetic energy will not hinder the motor.

The author cut a knife from an old hacksaw blade. You can also use a conventional steel plate such as a curtain for the gate, welding more durable steel to the edge as a blade. We sharpen the cutting planes of the knife, and we also check the balancing so that strong vibrations from the work of the homemade do not happen. For a knife, we make an adapter to the motor shaft from a piece of pipe or other parts.













Step Three Machine base
We make the base for the machine, to which you can then weld the legs.The author assembled the base from a steel corner, welding the desired structure.


Step Four Shield
Between two steel plates where the knife rotates, we make a shield so that the chopped raw materials do not scatter around, and also to protect others from the machine. For the shield we use thicker sheet steel, but you should be able to bend it. Auto bent the rim and set it between the connecting bolts.


Step Five Delivery sleeve
We make a supply sleeve where we will insert dead wood for crushing. Here you will need a piece of large diameter pipe. If there is no such pipe, it can be welded from steel plates. Cut a hole in the right place and weld the sleeve to the machine.




Step Six Feet and painting
We weld the legs to the machine, the author used pieces of pipes, we make the legs reliable so that the weighty homemade product does not fall on your feet or your loved ones. So that the legs do not get stuck in the ground, you can weld nickels to them.









When everything is ready, it remains only to paint the machine. The car looks great, you can experience it. As an experiment, the author crushes dead wood; it does not crush small and large parts that can be used for different purposes. Dead wood is an excellent litter for livestock, and some types of dry grass animals can eat.

There is a similar design, but less metal-intensive. It is an inverted welded half-barrel of 1.5 mm. Sheet with removable legs. The engine is very similar, almost one to one. The knife was made from an unnecessary two-handed saw. The height of the legs is designed so that it can be rolled under the chopper garden wheelbarrow. An apron is pulled down from the bottom of the case, so the debris does not scatter around. It’s convenient to grind all kinds of vegetables, apples, stems, etc. for laying in a compost box .. An oncoming knife, it’s also made a loading container from a 115 mm steel pipe what was at hand). On top of it, he added a funnel made of tin.
I clean it for the winter. I take off my legs, and I roll the machine into the barn
