How to make a miniature USB blender

Hi, the inhabitants of our site. In today's article, we will consider an interesting and rather unusual idea of homemade work. Namely, today we will look at how to make a miniature USB blender that will be made from cans. Of course, such a blender can hardly be called practical, and it is unlikely to cope with most difficult tasks. But it is perfect for mixing, whatever the milkshakes. It is worth noting the fact that due to the fact that the blender is powered by USB, it can be used autonomously without being tied to a network, and powered by your Power Bank. Well, well, I think you should not delay with a long introduction, they drove.

To build a homemade miniature blender you will need:
- A pair of cans from a carbonated drink (for example, from cola)
- A small hard plastic bottle with a large lid.
- Small electric motor for 3-6v (from a radio-controlled toy)
- Plastic gears and metal axis of suitable size
- Small metal plate
- Sealing gum
- USB cable
- The switch.

Of the tools also needed.
- soldering iron
- Drill
- Chancellor's knife
- scissors
- Hot glue
- Super glue
- marker
- Pliers
- Sandpaper

We begin to assemble a miniature blender:

First, we’ll make the base of the blender, a glass will be mounted on it, inside which there will be an electric motor. To do this, take a can of cola and empty it. Using a clerical knife, cut the jar into two parts.

Next, with the help of scissors, we cut off excess from two halves, namely, the upper half is carefully cut to such a size that the electric motor could fit there, and at the same time so that this part was not too high. The lower part is cut almost to the bottom, leaving only about 1 cm. Also, we make a cut in the lower part with scissors so that you can insert the lower part into the upper part.

Having prepared the base, we proceed to the assembly of the glass, inside which the ingredients will be mixed with us. For such a glass, you will need to find a bottle suitable for this, namely it should be made of thick plastic and its lid should be large (such as a five-liter bottle)

Using any object island (or using a drill and a small drill), we make a through hole in the center of the plastic cap, from a plastic bottle selected earlier. Then, with the help of a drill or knife, we expand this hole so that we can firmly insert the electric motor in its place.

Then we install the electric motor in its place. First we will fasten the electric motor to the cover with super glue, and then we will strengthen this connection with hot glue.

The next step is to cut the bottom off the plastic bottle. To do this, put the marker on the table, and attach a bottle to it, laying it bottom down. We scroll the bottle 360 degrees, we get a contour along which the bottom should be cut. It should be cut with the help of a clerical knife, and do it very carefully.

We don’t throw out the bottom of the bottle; it is now useful. The bottom itself should be carefully trimmed with scissors. It is necessary to make sure that this bottom can fit on the inside of the bottle and fit at the neck without falling through.

Exactly in the center of the bottom we make a hole with a drill. The diameter of the hole must match the diameter of the motor shaft.

Next, we move on to assembling the “power” part of the homemade product, namely, we will manufacture a mechanism that will transfer the drive from the electric motor to the cutting knife. To do this, you need to find suitable size plastic gears, various sealing gum, as well as a small metal axis with a diameter equal to the diameter of the electric motor. Such sets can easily be found in the online store, with Chinese friends.

We insert the axis on the gear (on the gear similar to the one shown in the photo below). We insert this preform into the previously cut plastic bottom. On the other side of the bottom, insert the sleeve, which should be fixed with super glue.

Next, we find a plastic part of a cylindrical shape, the diameter of which is approximately equal to the diameter of the mounted gear on the axis. From this cylindrical part with the help of a clerical knife we cut out a part resembling a crown in its shape. Glue the “crown” to the gear mentioned earlier.

Then take the part as in the photo below. Using super glue, we glue a small metal axis to this part, in this case the diameter of the axis does not play any role, but its length should be slightly larger than the diameter of the crown.

As we see from the image below, we have obtained a rotation transmission mechanism, the most important thing in this mechanism is that we can easily remove and insert the glass into place. The part made earlier is installed on the shaft of the electric motor.

We glue the bottom with the structure already installed on it to the inside of the bottle at the place indicated in the photo. First, glue with super glue, and then seal the connection with hot glue. We screw the cap with the installed engine into a plastic bottle.

Now we will make a cutting knife. For a cutting knife, a small metal plate is required, on which we will draw a knife outline with a pencil and a ruler. The knife itself should not exceed the diameter of the plastic bottle. Before cutting the knife, we make a through mounting hole in the center, using a drill.

Then we cut the knife. Using the pliers, we bend the blades of the knife in different directions so that we get the detail exactly as in the photo. Then using rough sandpaper, we sharpen the blade of the knife.

Glue the plastic sleeve onto the knife onto the super glue. Then we put the sleeve with the knife on the metal shaft mounted inside the plastic bottle. We test the design by temporarily connecting the battery to the motor contacts.

Place a switch on the blender body.To do this, attach the switch to the place where we want to place it, and circle it with a marker. Carefully cut the hole with a clerical knife. And set the switch in its place

We solder a pair of wires no more than 5 cm long to the contacts of the electric motor. Next, we glue the lid with the electric motor with hot glue to the base (see photo).

We solder one wire from the electric motor to the circuit breaker, and solder the USB cable to the other contact of the circuit breaker (only the power wires will be needed from USB, that is, black and red) the polarity does not matter. But before you solder the wire to the switch, it should be inserted through the bottom of the base, in which a hole equal to the insulation diameter of the USB cable should be made. We sing the second wire from the cable to the second wire from the electric motor. In order to avoid a short circuit, we isolate all wire connections with heat shrink or electrical tape.

We connect the bottom of the base with the base itself. After that, you need to make a cover for the blender, it is needed so that when we operate it, the spray does not fly around the house. Cut the lid from the bottom of the can. We seal this lid with a foam insert and in order to make it more convenient to use the lid, glue an ordinary plastic lid to it.

All is ready! We turn to the tests of a miniature blender. To do this, pour milk into a glass, pour the sliced bananas and quite a bit of cocoa, close the lid, connect the blender to the network and turn it on. In the end, you should get a delicious milkshake.
