Often, a soldering iron is needed in everyday life. The same tool can be useful when creating some homemade. In one of the previous materials, we considered a way to modernize or improve cheap Chinese soldering irons so that they last as long as possible and do not fail at the most crucial moment. Today we offer to make with your own hand the simplest soldering iron from an ordinary candle.
How to do this, we offer to find out by watching the author’s video

What do we need:
- a candle;
- a piece of copper wire;
- self-tapping screw;
- wooden block;
- a small piece of plywood;
- pliers;
- screwdriver;
- glue gun.
The first thing to do on the tip of a copper wire is to make a small ring. To do this, we use round-nose pliers, with which we will bend the ring.
Next, thread a self-tapping screw into this ring.
We also take a screwdriver with which we screw a self-tapping screw with a ring of copper wire into a wooden block.
After successfully screwing the self-tapping screw into the bar, align the wire so that it is at right angles to the bar.
The next thing we take is the glue gun, which is needed to glue the wooden block to the stand, that is, a piece of plywood. Note that here, as a stand, you can use what is at hand: it can be chipboard, fiberboard and anything else.
After such simple actions, our simplest homemade soldering iron is almost ready. We take the candle, put it under the copper wire, not forgetting to cut off the extra piece from the copper wire, since it can be longer.
It remains to adjust the angle of the copper wire. It is necessary to bring it as close to the flame as possible. This can be done using the same pliers.
We light a candle.
Finally, put it under the wire.
This soldering iron is not manual, that is, it does not work according to the classical scheme, compared to store soldering irons. A homemade soldering iron made in this way is static and you need to solder it by bringing parts, not a soldering iron. In the end, we add that such a soldering iron, of course, is not convenient to use as the main one, however, it can become a backup and help in difficult times if the main and classic soldering iron fails.
