It is difficult to imagine a country house or a country house in which there is no running water or a well. Indeed, without water, especially in summer, in the sweltering heat, a comfortable human existence is impossible. If you are a happy well owner, this article is for you.
Everyone knows that a well is not only a source of delicious, thirst-quenching water, but also an important architectural element of a summer cottage as a whole. Confirmation of this is a huge number of summer residents decorating their wells with intricate decorative elements, decorated with carvings, forging or drawings on the surface. If your well is not one of the works of art, do not despair, because this "misunderstanding" is easily correctable. Be patient, desire to change your well and imagination, and in just a couple of hours your well will have a completely different, cozy and beautiful look.
How to decorate a well in the country? There are plenty of options, but the most common and easy to do is to create a well cover made of wood, textolite, or made in the form of a miniature house.
Option one - a cover for a well made of wood. Why exactly made of wood? Wood is an environmentally friendly material, quite durable and easy to use. In addition, the well cover made with decorative elements is not only practical, but also very beautiful.
For its manufacture, you should prepare strong wood, such as aspen, nails, metal loops and the necessary tools.
Tip: If you live in a cold region, where the air temperature drops below -20 degrees in winter, we recommend that you make such a lid double and insulated to prevent freezing of water in the well.
The creation of such a cover begins with measurements of the well and determining the size of the cover; then a crate is made to fit the well and is sheathed with pre-prepared boards; metal loops or a rubber strap are attached to the resulting structure — one end to the lid and the other to the well.
After installing the cover on its surface, a handle is installed for more convenient opening of the well. The final stage is the decoration of the built lid - and here we come to the aid of bitumen or natural tiles, metal tiles, slate and even straw.
Option two - a cover made of PCB. To create it, prepare in advance the following materials: textolite itself, metal corners, profile pipes, metal loops, measuring tape, bolts and the necessary tool. As you know, textolite is a strong building material consisting of many layers, characterized by ease of operation and increased durability during operation.
The first step in creating such a cover will be cutting metal corners into 4 segments of the same length; after, the obtained segments must be welded together and process the weld seams with a grinder. The resulting metal square is fixed on the surface of the well, and sheathed with boards, leaving a hatch for the future cover.
After proceeding with the creation of the cover itself. To do this, take a metal profile and again cut off with the help of a grinder four segments of the same length, each of which should be slightly shorter than the previously cut segments for the frame.
We also weld the obtained segments and sheathe the top with textolite, using screws to connect the joints and treating the seams with sealant. The resulting cover should fit tightly into the frame installed on the well; We connect the cover and frame using metal loops. At the end of the work, a handle is mounted on the lid for convenient use of the well.
And the last, third version of the manufacture of the cover in the form of a miniature house. To do this, a frame for the well is made according to the technologies described in the first embodiment in the form of a gable roof, on one of the slopes of such a "roof" a small door is made through which water will be drawn from the well.
The roof is sheathed with bitumen or other tiles, other roofing materials; the whole frame in the form of a house is varnished. This option will please you not only with its practicality and ease of use, but also with a beautiful appearance.
All the options proposed above not only fulfill their basic function of protecting the well, but also have an attractive "appearance" and harmoniously fit into the interior of almost any summer cottage, not inferior in quality to the options offered in stores.
