At first glance, drywall is absolutely not the material from which to make furniture. However, it is much cheaper than wood or even chipboard. At the same time, it is convenient and practical to work with drywall, and as a result, designs of any planned form are created. The same goes for cabinets.
Materials and tools:
1. Wooden slats or metal profile.
2. Drywall.
3. Laminated chipboard or plywood.
4. Punch.
5. The screwdriver.
6. Self-tapping screws giprok-metal or giprok-tree.
7. Plaster putty.
8. Reinforcement paper or mounting tape.
9. Material for decoration to your taste (self-adhesive film, paint, decorative plaster).
10. Roulette.
Operating procedure:
First of all, all necessary measurements are made. In apartments, the walls are not perfectly even, so it is not recommended to cut the parts in advance, and only then to take measurements. The peculiarity of gypsum board furniture is that after its installation it will be impossible to deal with alteration, movement. It is necessary to take into account the size of clothes. It is most reasonable to create several drawings - a design one, which takes into account the color scheme, the drawing of the frame with the dimensions and the image of the final work with openings. When calculating the size of the openings, it is important to take into account such indicators as the drywall thickness in double size, as well as double thickness of the plaster and double - of the finish layer. But the parameters of the drawers should be calculated after the construction of the cabinet just because of the reduction of openings.
Having decided on all the calculations, you should proceed to the frame. A special metal profile or wooden battens are best suited for this, since the drywall itself is just a finishing material. A tree can withstand an order of magnitude greater load, but over time it can become loose, which will adversely affect the structure as a whole. Therefore, it is recommended to opt for metal, in addition, it is easier to process. But if the doors are supposed to be oar, it is best to combine materials - for example, in the places of fastening of wooden hinges inside the supporting profile, you can insert a wooden tab. In addition, the doors themselves must also be made of wood.
To collect a metal profile, you will need parts that are best purchased after consulting with a specialist - for example, the seller of a hardware store. Wooden parts are twisted as standard - on corners and screws. If you plan to highlight, it's time to do it at this stage by attaching it to the frame. The fastening of drywall plates is carried out on self-tapping screws giprok-tree or giprok-metal. When calculating the distances between fasteners, you need to start from the distance between the plates and the length of the parts themselves. The vertical pitch of the fastener is larger.
After applying the first layer of gypsum putty, take care of the corners of the structure, which most often suffer as a result of grazing. They are very important to reinforce, and then strengthen. It is recommended to purchase a metal corner profile for this purpose, but you can get by with reinforcing paper or mounting tape.
After applying the subsequent putty layers, it is necessary to check the cabinet geometry and sand the surfaces. If the surface is open, then straight lines are not so important, but checks are best done.
Finishing depends on personal preference. However, it should be borne in mind that a special primer is needed for self-adhesive film or wallpaper, and just decorative surfaces are enough for decorative plastering or painting. The undoubted plus of the paint is that it can be updated at any time.
Given the fragility of drywall, it is not intended for the storage of something heavy. However, if this is not included in the plans, you can well decorate the room to your taste.
