DIY cooler from a tube and two droppers

Good afternoon, dear visitors of the site.

I want to bring to your attention a small thing whose task is to cool the boiling water to the required temperature in home conditions.
As you know, this can be done by placing a container of hot water in another filled with cold, stirring hot water to speed it up. Or constantly pouring from a hot glass into an empty cold one.

At home, the author simply adds cold water to boiling water - this allows the quality of water, but in the city of parents - it can easily spoil the taste of tea / coffee, giving the drink an unforgettable flavor of bleach.

So let's get started and try to automate the process. The only condition for successful work fixtures It is a source of cold water with a continuous supply - in our case, it is a kitchen water tap.

So what do we need?

- copper tube (as an option: aluminum, steel)
droppers - 2 pcs.
a piece of wire
- a small piece of electrical tape
Correction of suitable diameter
-lighter
nippers or knife
awl or nail

So we take a piece of a suitable tube.

Copper works more efficiently, but aluminum or steel is also suitable. If you have at your fingertips a new unnecessary tube of the brake system of the car - it is perfect for our purposes.

How to choose a mandrel - in our case, it is ideal for cooling boiling water in a glass, cup or glass jar.

Please note, if you take a larger mandrel, the diameter of the turns will be larger, the cooling will be better, for example, for a pan, but such a device will not fit into a jar))) and may not fit in a cup.

Obgina tube district mandrel

We cut the tube to the length we need

The author accidentally had a suitable holder, but it can be made of pure copper or aluminum wire without forgetting to make a small hook for attaching to the cup, so this is not critical

Then we take the packaging of droppers and open the first one, actually from the kit we only need a long hose and a holding crimp tube to ensure a tight connection.

We attach one end of the dropper to our tube, for the connection, the circumstance that the dropper kit has everything is necessary.

We cut off the excess from the dropper tube. come in handy sometime another time

We take the second dropper, and also connect it to our copper tube, its second hole, we fix it as in the first case.

We begin to modernize the dropper - cut off with a knife or bite off the top of the valve with nippers. pierce with an awl its mesh valve

We heat the cut off part of the valve with a lighter and expand it, you can use your finger, the temperature of the heated plastic is low. But for the best effect, you can do this with the spout of a water tap right in the kitchen

We take this step in order to put the valve on the water tap

Next to the valve, just below it, with the help of electrical tape or wire, we fix the end of the tube of our first dropper - this will be our return

Total - we got a finished device

Getting to the test:

We put the valve on the kitchen faucet and open the water -

ATTENTION - slightly open !!! In order for cold water to flow through our system, because the diameter of the dropper tubes is small and the water flow in it is limited, opening the water tap too much will lead to a sharp increase in pressure and will easily disrupt our valve. Perhaps it would be appropriate to make some kind of adapter from an elastic material, for example silicone - or some other fixative. But no lock will save you from the large amount of cold water supplied to the cooling system.

Everything - the process has begun. Cold water passes through the tube of one dropper, passes through the tube, while taking the heat of hot water and through the second dropper returns to the sink.

The photo shows how quickly cold tap water can cool boiling water in a glass to room temperature - just over two minutes.

One more note: on process physics and better application

Fix the device in the upper part of the chilled water, then the cooling efficiency will be maximum - the chilled water will go down, and the remaining hot water will go up - thereby the process will be accelerated.

All good and useful homemade

Honestly, surprised! ... Everything was possible in the mess of the 90s, I agree. And now??? How is this possible now? Where will the underground workshop take raw materials ??? And, most importantly, where will the products go ??? Not a single outlet will conclude a contract for the supply of products without accompanying documents! And among them - various certificates and so on, confirming the legitimacy of the products, compliance with GOST or TU, the results of the examination of the CSMS and so on and so forth! It's not rags, it's food! Some granny, angry at the whole world, will not like the taste and she will call the regulatory authorities .... (Such a thing, all the time!). So what??? Even if they don’t reach the suppliers, they will close the point of sale, they will confiscate the goods ... There may be problems with all the documents due to “not standing there commas”, and without them .....
And if someone else recovers ??? These are real terms !!!
Korolev,
And in general, “ecology” today is such a trick invented by marketers to regulate the sales market !!
Otherwise, how can we explain that xylitol is added to Dirol instead of sugar not because it turns out to be cheaper in the end, but in order to protect our teeth from that gram, which for some reason is much more dangerous than those two spoons that are in every cup of tea!)))))
I completely agree with you! Concentrations are incommensurable with what we sometimes consume from supermarkets!

The reason is simple - wood chips are orders of magnitude cheaper

What about the time factor? Strongly affects the cost, especially in line production.

I remember the primus and kerogas well.

I think the genetics of the ancestors were better than ours, but with basic literacy in the field of sanitation and hygiene ...

Do not replace the concept!

Yes, do not substitute a question!

My grandmother, for example, had 12 brothers and sisters ... Four survived ...

Then any wound threatened with tetanus and other infections, and epidemics collected their tribute.
I agree with everything except the workshop. I don’t know how in Belarus, but Russia is full of clandestine workshops
So stainless pipes also accumulate plaque. Nonsense is all that. As long as it grows in your kidneys there will be a bag of asbestos.
1. Liquid smoke, for example.

It is not used in industry. (The reason is commonplace - wood chips are orders of magnitude cheaper)))). Sold for home use only.
My grandmothers were more clean

We all want to think so .... But there are also living conditions !!! And no one will heat the stove in the summer all day to boil water and wash one bowl every time it is necessary. And drag water from the well ...
Your grandmothers did not have a tap with water! Even with the cold. And there was no sink either, so that this water was flowing ....
I had to work at two food processing plants in the countryside, where they hadn’t even heard about it, and the toilets were like a toilet, sorry for moviton.

This is something from the 90s ...)))) Now the station will simply close this "enterprise" ...
And if they received it?

Do not replace the concept! They ALREADY PASSED THE NATURAL SELECTION and survived.
The same applies to the following:
Grandfather served in the Red Army, three wars passed, father - in the Soviet, they faced medicine several times ...

... And would their "dead brothers, sisters, or aunts and uncles" be healthy if they survived with the help of medicine, despite their poor health due to genetic predispositions, how do more than half of people survive today? Eh, this "surviving in spite of nature" half of the people have already produced offspring, which, again, should not have survived, but survived !!!

Do not be a bore Ivan. If you take it by technology, then for sure there are other components besides asbestos and cement. They are not in the title. Also, for brevity, people say "asbestos" and everyone understands what it is about.

Ivan doesn’t consider commas))))). He had in mind something else - in the composition of pipes asbestos is needed to give them certain properties - to increase elasticity and reduce the coefficient of thermal expansion and hardness (brittleness). It is bound by cement mortar, but is quickly washed out of the surface layers with water. In addition, these pipes have a fairly high hydrodynamic resistance due to the "roughness of the cement mortar", which leads to rapid fouling of the surface with salt deposits. That is, water ceases to be in contact with asbestos.
Valery, the discussion grows into a dispute which is more harmful in the water a little copper or a little aluminum)).

As they say in our country, "We have nothing !!!" ))))))) (In no case (bel.)))))
Never bothered with this !!! Maybe it’s all the fault - childhood in a remote village, but always lived by the principle "More dirt - thicker than the face!" )))))
... I mean, "dirt" is, of course, not dirt, but "harmful additives, ah-yi-yi-allergens," chemistry-we are poisoned "and so on)))))))
I will boil water in a copper kettle, if it turns out to be copper, or in aluminum, if it is aluminum .... It all depends on which kettle is at hand ...)))))

I don’t know why, but my mother was very glad when she managed to get a brass basin!

So for asbestos? Maybe, after all, on asbestos-cement?
I’ll tell you a secret, I even know where she is from asbestos served

almost all metal buckets are galvanized.

I’ll tell you a secret: tap water is often supplied to consumers through galvanized pipes.
Valery, the discussion grows into a dispute which is more harmful in the water a little copper or a little aluminum)). Here in the composition of vitamins that the pharmacy sells is why there is no aluminum (chromium - one of the components of stainless steel is also absent)? And zinc, copper, that is, copper, is the catalyst of many biochemical processes for people and plants (one of the 17 essential trace elements for plants), in addition, it has a bactericidal effect. About aluminum
there is evidence of its neurotoxicity, the ability to accumulate in the nervous tissue, liver and brain.
"He hit a copper basin and cried out a cara-baras"
Moidodyr
I have never seen a copper basin, and a bucket too.
And yet, what is the alternative to a copper basin when cooking jam? In other metals, it quickly burns and blackens.

Even in my childhood, copper basins did not meet .... Aot honestly! I have never seen!
Jam was always cooked exclusively in huge aluminum bowls. Later, in the 80s, mainly cooked in enameled. Now - stainless steel ...
P.S. Jam is not black! )))))
today's industrial smoking methods are chemistry!

More specifically, please ... And then for now only general phrases. What technology, what substances, etc ....
1. The products were really natural and they were still prepared in clean dishes))).

Washed in a tub with a little warm water, in which other dishes were washed before ...))))
You should see the "sterile cleanliness" of some food enterprises. especially private!

Saw. I myself work in the food industry ...
... And you? ... Only without speculation, please. Specifically, what you yourself saw! And then I already heard enough, for example, of tales about our meat factory, dirt, and huge rats that do not always have time to jump out of a large industrial meat grinder after turning it on)))) .. I don’t know how this is consistent with what was brought out of the workshop for example, even for five minutes, the worker removes and throws a hat, shoe covers, gloves and a “muzzle” into the container, and when he comes back he takes a new set from the containers standing at the door ....
But this is what I saw ... They didn’t let me into the workshop - I didn’t have a sledge with me ... Maybe there are those dirt and rats inside that the whole city is judging about ...))))
And how many of them were vaccinated and received honey. help?
Naturally, not a single one !! This confirms what I said - the strongest survived !!! And now everyone is surviving ...
I just compared my grandfather, father, myself and my children. Regress, unfortunately, is obvious!

And you and your children have never been knocked down by a high fever, have they never been treated for anything for a long time, have they never been operated on? ..
So, if at least someone had this - exclude them from comparison with their grandfather - they would be dead in his conditions !!! Compare ONLY with those modern people who have never taken pills even from the temperature ....
Quote: "even survived to fifty," "almost doubled their life expectancy !!!"
1. Who and how did you count? Today, when calculating the births of babies in the billing year, the EXPECTED life expectancy is 110 (one hundred and ten !!!) years! So we can triple! You take an interest!

Quote: "smoke of the time was not carcinogenic when smoked !!"
I agree, today's industrial methods of "smoking" is still chemistry!

Quote: “Naturally, natural products baked in the dirty firebox of a Russian stove”
1. The products were really natural and they were still prepared in clean dishes))).
2. You would see the "sterile cleanliness" of some food enterprises. especially private!

Quote: “And meat salty through and through”
Salt is not the most dangerous preservative, and modern meat is still a product!

Quote: “My grandmother, for example, had 12 brothers and sisters”
And how many of them were vaccinated and received honey. help?

Quote: "Where does this widespread belief that people used to be healthier" come from?
I just compared my grandfather, father, myself and my children. Regress, unfortunately, is obvious!

Quote: “And then they died healthy”
But wars, epidemics, a complete lack of a health system?
... Here, some people strained from the description of the negative role of brass, copper and zinc in food utensils, Turks, faucets, drinking water heating systems. So that's why we lived a little, brass is the same alloy of copper with zinc, almost all metal buckets are galvanized. And moonshine stills, especially copper coils. And yet, what is the alternative to a copper basin when cooking jam? In other metals, it quickly burns and blackens.
Quote: Maxim
Therefore, before basins for jam and beer tanks were copper. And people lived healthier

Not copper, but brass (which doesn’t change the essence). And samovars, coffee pots and so on. inside were tinned tin. Yes, and I also remembered the coil of the moonshine still and school experience, when the heated copper wire was lowered into alcohol.
Today I read the corresponding definition: "Traditional medicine is when people living an average of 70 years are treated according to the recipes of people living an average of 30 years."
And people lived healthier

.... And some even survived to fifty !!! Not often, really ... But still! ))))

P.S. Where does this widespread belief that earlier people were healthier, eating "natural" and now "chemistry" is ruining everyone? ...
Of course, natural products baked in the dirty firebox of a Russian stove are very, very useful !!! And then smoke was not carcinogenic when smoked !! ))) But the meat salted through and through (and all the same, "with a sweet smell") - did not contain preservatives !!! ))).

"Healthier" is yes !!! My grandmother, for example, had 12 brothers and sisters ... Four survived ... The rest died in childhood ..
And then it was NORMAL !!! But these four ate and this meat, and these pancakes with soot ... and the devil did not take them!)))) ...
And now almost everyone is nursing !!! And those who were not supposed to survive, in turn, again give offspring ...
We ourselves canceled natural selection, and at the same time almost doubled our life expectancy !!!
..And we complain that now many are sick .... And then they died healthy ... True, thirty years earlier!))))
Therefore, before basins for jam and beer tanks were copper. And people lived healthier

wait a couple of minutes, leaving a metal spoon in a glass

If you really can't wait so much, you can pour boiled water into a jar once, and then use it as needed.
“At home, the author simply adds cold water to boiling water - the quality of water allows it, but in the city of parents - it can easily spoil the taste of tea / coffee, giving the drink an unforgettable aftertaste of bleach." ...
I understand that this "device" was invented to cool the water intended for making tea or coffee. I have a question: - "But wait a couple of minutes, leaving a metal spoon in a glass (the more massive the spoon, the better) until it cools down, what is it?
Do you know what this homemade product is called? It is called - "At the expense of potato firewood to fry."
And pour water into cast-iron dishes (such as ducklings) and throw ice there in a plastic bag?
Copper is not the best material for contact with food.
