Nimble twin-engine boat made of PVC pipes (radio-controlled)

In this manual, we will consider a method of manufacturing a quick friction case from PVC pipes and other accessories for plumbing. The boat is equipped with two engines, this makes it fast and powerful, but this is not all the advantages. Thanks to this design, there is no need to install the steering wheel on the boat; it turns by turning on the engines once. For example, if you turn on the right motor, the boat will turn left and vice versa. And if you turn one engine forward, one back, the boat will turn in one place, like a tank.
The boat also knows how to reverse, especially useful if it gets stuck in algae.

How to use homemade, you decide. Such a boat is perfect for games, especially if you make them a few pieces, so it will be possible to arrange competitions. Also, such boats are quite successfully used for fishing purposes. Using them, you can deliver bait or even fish, making some adjustments and increasing size.

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- two motors;
- battery;
- PVC pipes, plugs, tees, corners;
- two adapters to the motor shaft;
- welding electrode (or other rod);
- two screws (water);
-
- Styrofoam;
- glue;
- sealant;
- cogs.

Tool List:
- scissors;
- stationery knife;
- drill;
- glue gun;
- screwdriver;
- marker;
- ruler;
- soldering iron;
- pliers;
- a hacksaw for metal.

Boat manufacturing process:

Step one. Assemble the frame
The whole frame is made of several pieces of PVC pipes, corners, and two tees will also be needed. We cut the pipes to the desired length, and then we assemble everything as in the photo. There is nothing complicated in this, the main feature is that all components are tight. Otherwise, water will accumulate in the frame, and the boat will begin to sink. Everything is going to glue, it needs to be applied more. For additional tightness, the adhesive can also be applied externally to the joints.

Step Two Space for engines
Of course, the engine screws must be under water, so the frame should go under water. These parts are made of two bent pipes, as well as small pieces of pipe for connections. We assemble on glue, do not forget about tightness.

Step Three Install the motors
First you need to prepare and install the wires.We drill holes for them, as in the photo and start inside the frame. You can seal the drilled holes immediately after installation using hot glue or the like.

Now we put the wires into the parts that hold the motors. Inside them, plugs must be made so that water does not pass inside. For this, foam can be used. We make round foam from the foam, insert it inside, and then pour more hot glue into the pipe from above. We get great stubs. We install the brackets in their places.

To install the motors you will need plugs for pipes of the same diameter as the pipes used, they are attached end-to-end. We drill holes in the plugs for the shaft and mounting screws, and then install the motors. Before installation, the author applies a sealant to the motors so that water does not pass inside. The author also covers the tops of the screw caps with sealant, probably so that they do not rust. Almost everything is ready, soldered to the wire motors. For this, the author used his improvised soldering iron.

We put the motors in their place, they should tightly go inside the frame. To seal, cut pieces of pipe. The joints are well sealed with glue.

Step Four We make the deck and the bottom
The bottom and the deck are one unit, and this whole thing is going to be made of two sheets of polystyrene foam. First cut the main sheet, it will be the deck. Then cut another smaller sheet, glue it to the deck with hot glue, this will be the part that is immersed in water.

And finally, for the boat you need to make a keel, it will allow the vessel to move clearly in a straight line. The keel is also made of foam. Cut and glue with hot glue. Without a keel, the boat will turn, as the screws rotate in the same direction.

Now all this business needs to be glued to the boat frame. We arm ourselves with a glue gun and get down to business. It is necessary to glue completely so that water does not pass to the deck, because there is electronics!

Step Five Install and connect electronics
For the boat you will need a two-channel radio, the first thing you need to solder to it is all the necessary wires. This is a battery power wire, as well as 4 wires from engines. Immediately after connecting, make sure that everything is connected correctly.

Fasten to the deck, for this you can use double-sided tape. It is very important to make a protective dome over the receiver, because if water gets on it, it can fail. The battery can also be mounted on double-sided tape. The receiver has an output to the antenna, it can be used to improve the range.

Step Six Install propellers
To install the screws you will need adapters, as well as two axles to lengthen the motor shafts. The author makes the axis of the welding electrode. We remove the top cover with the help of pliers, clean it with emery cloth and bite off the necessary pieces with nippers.
We install the propellers on the engines, tighten the fixing screws with a key.

There is one caveat, water can enter the motor through the front bushings, so you need to put washers between the adapter and the motor or come up with some other protection. If you grease the shaft, for example, sealant can be applied to the sleeve, you will get a kind of gland.

Seventh step. Test
The boat is ready for battle! Try turning on the right and left motor alternately. Then turn on the movement back and forth, if everything works, perfectly, you can experience it. We put the boat on the water and into battle! Pretty good, right? The most important thing is to ensure that the electronics are not wet, good luck!
