This article will be of interest to many craftsmen who have to cut threads.
In this article, YouTube author George George Kosilov will tell you how he made the simplest tap holder out of the simplest materials. Homemade work is done in a few minutes with simple tools.
Materials
- Two long M8 bolts with hexagon head
- The extended nut M8.
Instruments, used by the author.
- Screwdriver, drill
- Vise
- Square file
- vernier caliper
- Kern, the hammer.
Manufacturing process.
First of all, the author finds and marks the center of one of the faces of the elongated nut using a caliper. To do this, marks on both sides (flips the nut 180).
Then, holding the nut in a vise, the center of the face is cored, and is drilled first with a thin drill, and then with a drill with a diameter of 6 mm.
This is such a blank, the author drilled a "back" wall of approximately half the thickness.
Now the author takes two such M8 bolts, on one of them, using a square file, he made such a V-shaped notch, or groove.
Further, the author tightens the notched bolt so that it becomes even, perpendicular to the axis of the nut.
Inserts a tap shank into the drilled hole, directing one of its faces into the groove of the bolt.
Now it tightens with a second bolt, and tightens it well.
The author has a beautiful and high-quality home-made holder for the tap.
With this homemade fixtures and a tap can be threaded without even having factory holders on the farm.
The tap holds very firmly, does not stagger, there are no backlashes.
Moreover, such a holder can be made immediately for three sizes of taps. For this, two more faces can be drilled through a hole with a different diameter.
For larger taps, you can take larger bolts and a nut.
Thanks to the author for a simple idea for a useful tool, not everything must be purchased!
Good mood and good luck to everyone!
