DIY fireplace stand

Hello dear readers and the inhabitants of our site!
In this article, the YouTube author of Matthias Wandel tells you how he replaced the protective cover under the fireplace.

Materials
- Sheet stainless steel
- Wooden blocks
- Wood screws.

Instruments, used by the author.
- Bulgarian
- Cutting and flap scraping discs
- Hammers
- Chisel
- Marker.

Manufacturing process.
Previously, a rather vast floor area was tiled here.

The tile goes under the stove itself. The author, wanting to somewhat ennoble the interior, decides to get rid of the floor tiles, replacing it with a stainless steel sheet. He knocks her down pretty quickly. This zone under the furnace presents some difficulty.

To make the steel sheet safer and give an ergonomic appearance, the master decides to round the corners on the front of it.

For this purpose he collects the simple deviceto which the grinder is attached. This design allows you to rotate the tool in an arc.

Using this simple device, you can cut at an angle, but this must be done in a few passes, otherwise you can violate the desired angle. In addition, it is possible to overheat the steel, and the color of the edge will change.

And here they are, fillets. The edges were razor-sharp. The author cleans them with the help of a petal stripping disk, and additionally wipes them with rough sandpaper. He performs the same procedure from the second angle.

Next, Matthias drills holes at the corners for self-tapping screws, countersink holes.

Then he disconnects the pipe.

But how to move a heavy cast iron stove alone? A nontrivial solution is needed. To start, Matthias puts a wooden block, slightly tilting the stove.

Now you can completely remove the pipe.

On both sides of the furnace, the author places carts. Sheets cardboard under the wheels of the carts so as not to damage the wooden floor. Then he places wooden blocks on the platforms, and under each of them, on all four sides, he places boards until the timber rests in the bottom of the furnace. In short, Matthias uses the principle of leverage.

Now the whole furnace moves easily.

Putting tiles on a wooden floor was far from the best solution, but the builders coped with this extremely well.

The floor covering was not badly damaged, but this is not important, because a sheet of steel will lie on top. It is necessary to remove the remains of the solution, and smooth out all the bumps.

Now, on a prepared and washed floor, you can lay a steel sheet and remove the protective film from it.

Then he pushes the stove into place, removes the coasters and carts.

Drills holes in the parquet and screw the screws.

That's how it looks in its finished form. All that remains to be done is a child safety fence.

Thanks to the author for an interesting technology!

Good luck to everyone!
