DIY plywood music stand

Hello dear readers and the inhabitants of our site!
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel "Jack Houweling" will tell and show you how easy it is to make a music stand with a clip for all kinds of projects.
DIY plywood music stand

Isn't it convenient when the paper does not scatter, and is not lost among other things in the workshop, when the sheet can be placed vertically and viewed from your project drawing from afar without letting go of the tool.

Materials
- sheet plywood
- Steel spring wire
- Oak board trim
- Brass bar
- Wooden dowel
- PVA glue.

Instruments, used by the author.
- Band-saw
- A circular saw
- Screwdriver
- Nippers, pliers
- clamps
- Drilling machine
- Belt grinding machine.

Manufacturing process.
Now the author is about to create a second music stand, just a little larger. It will be slightly longer than this sheet of paper.

Immediately cuts a blank for the base from sheet plywood.

And Jack will start from the most difficult moment - with the clamp. Oak flooring will come in handy. It is quite strong and not bad in appearance.

The clamping device is much like a door hinge device - in both mechanisms there is a rod that permeates all the elements of the connection. The craftsman intends to make all parts of the clamp from wood, with the exception of the spring itself.

Before you are two cut out parts that will work on the principle of a hinge. According to the master himself, he made a minor mistake, not cutting out this small segment and thereby not freeing up more space for the spring. But it is fixable! The band saw is again used, and the processing of faces on a grinding machine.

Next, the author drills holes for a pin that will hold this entire structure together.

And then he inserts this little rod here to see how it works.

Works great! It remains to add a spring. In this article Jack told in detail how to make them yourself. Cuts off a small piece of C88 spring steel wire.

In the arsenal of the master was a piece of brass rod in which he cuts a small groove.

The rod is inserted into the screwdriver on the side on which a small cutout was made. A wire is inserted into the resulting hole, the other end of which is slightly adhered by pliers. It is important to turn on the drill at low speeds, and lower gear.

He puts the spring on the dowel, clogs it into the structure.

And cuts the clip itself out of plywood.

Now the author is going to stick this element here. To do this, he shifts the spring to the side to ease the tension. When the glue is seized, the master will return the spring to its original place.

While the spring is loosened, the author sticks a clip on the very base of the music stand.

To make the back of the music box, Jack draws the contours of the front of the pencil. Now it is easily cut on a band saw. It also cuts part of the lid at an angle in order to conveniently remove paper from the drawer.

Then glues the side walls to the back cover, clamps with clamps.

This is the last element that requires gluing. All joints and faces after gluing must be cleaned on a grinding machine, or with sandpaper.

And now the music stand with the clip is ready, the structural elements can be treated with impregnation. The spring does an excellent job and can hold quite a lot of paper sheets. The music stand can be placed vertically: for this it is created voluminous. Some papers can be stored at the back, in a “pocket” specially created for this purpose. Music stand is indispensable in the workshop, but also in the office or in the kitchen for viewing recipes during cooking.

Thanks to Jack for an interesting idea!

Good luck to everyone, good mood and the necessary homemade goods!
