In this article, Jack, the author of the YouTube channel "Jack Houweling", will tell you how to make a bow sanding attachment from a piece of wood, without the use of glue and screws. Just a few cuts on the circular and band saws, and this device done in two counts!
Materials
- Wooden block
- Sandpaper for belt sander.
Instruments, used by the author.
- Band-saw
- A circular saw
- vernier caliper
- Pencil, carpentry knife.
Manufacturing process.
As the most sandpaper, the author will use an annular sanding belt for the machine. It has a width of 7.5 cm with a length of 53 cm.
The author puts the tape on the board, presses a piece of plywood as a guide, cuts the tape into strips approximately 2.5 cm wide. To cut the tape to the desired size, the master makes several blanks. Each such block should freely enter the sanding belt, and then he pressed the belt to the block with clamps. So the tape will not wrinkle or twist.
These are narrow stripes.
Then he takes a wooden block about 3.5 cm thick, sets the saw blade to a height of 2.5 cm and cuts a groove in the bar, into which the sanding belt will then fit.
On the same bar, he outlines the contours of the future handle and bow, which will be cut out on a band saw.
Cuts the workpiece on a band saw.
It is important not to forget, the author notes, to make this emphasis a little longer in length than the tape itself. Because it is always possible to file it. Also, a slight descent is made on the heel of the holder so that the tape is easier to put on.
Next, Jack pulls the tape. The tape "sat down" in a stretch and this is what we need. Because it will give her extra tension.
When both elements - the sanding belt and the handle are connected together, the tool gains elasticity. While using the tool, this plays a positive role. Now it remains only to try it in practice.
The grinding holder has a comfortable grip and a secure grip. It remains to soak the workpiece with oil to protect it from moisture.
Thanks to Jack for the original idea of a grinding device!
Good luck to everyone, good mood, and interesting ideas!
