Spear manufacturing process:
Step one. Forging
Work begins with forging, we need to make the primary profile of the blade. We heat the spring, align and chop to get a piece of the desired length. Well, then you need to tighten the muscles a little, and now, in front of the eyes, the author forms a recognizable profile of the spear tip.
You also need to form a shank, it must be cut lengthwise into two parts, and then bent the parts in opposite directions at an angle of 90 degrees. As a result, we get an emphasis with which the tip of the spear will abut the handle, and also such an emphasis will not allow the tip to pop out when you drag the spear onto yourself.
Step Two Grinding
We make grinding of the blade, remove all forging defects. Here we need a grinder with a suitable nozzle, we carry out rough work with a thick grinding disk. A finer grinding is carried out using a petal nozzle or a disk for installing sandpaper. The blade does not need to be sharpened, the author trimmed it with a file.
Step Three Quenching
Getting to hardening, this procedure will make the blade hard, and the spear will remain sharp for a long time. The author only tempers the blade; as a result, the blade will spring and will not break under load. We heat the blade, and then gently touch only the blade with water. If done correctly, the blade should no longer be taken with a file.
Step Four Lever
We make a handle for the spear, the author used bamboo, and we can use hazel. Hazelnut branches are long, even and very strong, and they do not weigh much after drying. We drill a hole perpendicular to the stick at the end with a drill, and then cut a hole with a hacksaw to this hole. Well, then set the tip of the spear here.
To fix the tip well, we need a wire, copper is perfect, it does not rust, such a wire is plastic, strong and looks beautiful. Tightly wind the wire on that part of the stick where the tip shank is inserted.
