Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Theory
To obtain wood vinegar, wood must smolder in a closed container without oxygen. As a result, smoke will form (wood vapor) with water vapor, which we need to condense to form a liquid, which is vinegar.
For condensation, a system that is used in moonshines can be a great fit.
If you provide a small air supply to the boiler, the machine will work autonomously until the whole tree turns into charcoal. Coal will also burn if air supply is not shut off in time.
As a result, the obtained charcoal can be used for barbecue, forge, and so on.
Please note that the gas that will be released during the thermal decomposition of wood without oxygen can be combustible and explosive !!!
Step Two The main part of the device
The main part of the device is a stove with a small door, the door must be airtight so that air does not pass into the tank. The author uses a gas cylinder as a body, pour water into it, well, wash it, it is advisable to carry out the procedure several times! For safety reasons, if there was flammable gas in the cylinder, you need to cut the cylinder directly filled with water.
In the cylinder we need to cut the door, we need to hang the door on the door hinge. Coal can be poured through the same door, but for coal production, it is better to make the door larger.
We need to weld a device for condensing vinegar from decomposition products to the cylinder. The author adapted a piece of the profile pipe for such purposes. The end of the pipe is jammed, and a hole is cut out in the pipe so that vinegar flows through it. Of course, the efficiency of such a condensing device is very low, it requires a large pipe length and a temperature difference. A coil with a cooler from a moonshine still works well.
Step Three Heating part
In order for the tree to begin to smolder, we need to heat the container, for this we need to light a fire under the balloon, by the way, you can use the very coal that we get when we make homemade work.
The author makes a stand for the cylinder from another cylinder, in this stand and the fire will burn. If everything is calculated correctly, then you will not need to constantly burn coal under the cylinder, this device will work as a starter.
Step Four Capacity for vinegar and test
We weld the rack from the profile pipe and hang a tin can under the condensing device. Now the machine can be tested, we load the wood into the container, probably it should be raw so that the steam necessary for the condensation of vinegar is released.
We kindle a fire under the tank or inflate the coals. After a while, vapors will start to stand out from the hole in the condensing pipe. Further, the first drops of wood vinegar will begin to fall in a tin can.
