Manufacturing process.
When marking up, using ordinary roulette, you have to use both hands. This is very inconvenient when performing work at heights.
In the store, the author found a pencil holder, it is functional, but has a number of shortcomings.
For this, the master took a thin-walled profile pipe, and marked it.
He crammed the centers for the holes for the pencil, and the fixing bolt. Then he drilled them on the machine.
Having measured the diameter of the pencil, I picked up a suitable drill step in diameter.
Then he drilled holes on both sides of the workpiece.
I cut the M2 thread for the fixing bolt.
I screwed in a bolt and tried on a pencil. Everything keeps pretty reliable.
He clamped the pipe in a vice, and cut off the workpiece.
Having made the necessary cuts with a hacksaw, he took off an almost finished part.
He sharpened sharp edges with a file.
Then formed the tip of the pointer.
The excess plastic on the tape measure removed with a chisel.
Having tried on the workpiece to the tape measure, marked the mounting bolts and drilled holes for them.
Polishing surfaces fixtures from old paint and rust with sandpaper, covered it with black spray paint.
It remains only to screw the nozzle to the roulette case with short screws, being careful not to damage its mechanism.
That's all, now you can install the pencil in its place, and fix it with a bolt at the desired height.
Modified roulette with pointer ready to go!
Now you can mark out the details with one hand. In addition, with the help of such a tape measure you can, fixing the tape, draw large circles or arcs.
Thanks to the author for a simple but useful improvement for roulette!
