DIY knife for dough

Hello dear readers andthe inhabitants of our site!
I myself love to cook homemade bread, perhaps some of you are also engaged in this noble cause.
In this article, Jester, author of the YouTube channel Made by Jester, will tell you how he made an indispensable tool for preparing the test. Namely, a knife for working with it.

Materials
- Cherry and walnut boards
- 316 stainless steel sheet
- Brass bar 5 mm in diameter
- PVA glue
- Sandpaper
—
- Impregnation for wood
- Masking tape.

Instruments, used by the author.
—
- A circular saw
—
—
—
—
—
- Vise, hacksaw, hammer, anvil
—
- File, knife
- Square, ruler, pencil.

Manufacturing process.
First of all, the master dissolves the boards on small planks.

Glues the blanks among themselves, puts cherry planks on the outside of the hazel planks.

While the glue dries, the master begins preparing the knife blade. He cuts it out of stainless steel sheet.

Rounds the edge of the blade with a file, it does not require special sharpness.

The surface of the blade should also not be perfectly glossy, otherwise the dough will stick to it. The author makes it slightly rough with sandpaper and a metal sanding sponge.

The handle blank has dried and needs to be cut into two slats.

The resulting blanks are sanded with sandpaper.

The ends of the workpieces are trimmed, and the edges are rounded off by a radius cutter with a thrust bearing.

Again a little sanding by hand.

Before gluing, the surface of the blade is protected with masking tape.

The components of acrylic glue are mixed, and the handle is glued to the canvas on both sides.

After polymerization of the glue, its excess is removed with a knife and sandpaper.

Two rivets are cut from a brass bar, slightly longer than the thickness of the handle.

In the handle, the master drilled holes for the rods, and riveted them in the handle. It will be both reliable and beautiful.

The protruding edges of the rivets are filed and ground.

Next, you need to soak the handle with oil. And since this tool will come in contact with food, the impregnation should be harmless. How to make such an impregnation from beeswax and rosehip oil was described in this article. The author chose rosehip oil, not linseed. He really does not like the smell of linseed oil. After applying the impregnation, the knife remains to dry in the stand.

Everything is ready, you can knead the dough. Now, with the help of such a knife, the dough is very easy to lift from the table and turn over.

The author sends the dough into the oven, periodically monitoring the temperature inside the loaf with a special one.

That's all, the master turned out a great knife and wonderful pastries!

Thanks to Jester for the simple idea of a useful kitchen tool!
All good mood, good luck, and delicious homemade bread!
