Volumetric picture "Waterfall" from epoxy

Greetings to all lovers of craftsmanship, I propose to consider an interesting three-dimensional picture of epoxy resin called "Waterfall". Everything looks very realistic, as if in front of us is a real mini-waterfall with real water. Of course, such an illustration would have looked more interesting with backlighting, but it’s not a matter of mounting it in homemade small LED. In the manufacture of homemade is not complicated and does not require specialized equipment. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- river sand and pebbles;
- dry moss;
- fiberglass to simulate grass;
- dye for epoxy;
- transparent epoxy resin;
- acrylic texture gel;
- some synthetic cotton.

Tool List:
- stationery knife;
- electronic Libra;
- ruler;
- plastic cups;
- tweezers.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. We form the basis
First of all, we need to assemble a reliable formwork that will survive the pouring of epoxy into it. The cheapest and most affordable formwork material is a plastic bottle. Just cut off a piece of material, glue it with tape and glue the formwork well to the base with hot glue. Make sure that all joints are tight, otherwise the epoxy will leak and be offended.

Next, we take river sand and mix it with epoxy resin, a thick mass should turn out, we lay it on the bottom of the formwork. When the base is set, we make a partition inside and load the same mixture to simulate the mountains. In the end, the author formed the desired shape with his fingers. It is possible to wash off epoxy from hands with a solvent or even gasoline, but it is better to work with gloves.

Step Two Stones and grass
We also stack pebbles in the upper and lower parts for greater realism. Even in the upper part, the author decorated the stones with grass; green fiberglass and acrylic texture gel were used as the material.

Step Three Pouring "water"
We dilute the epoxy resin and add a little blue dye to it. Pour the resulting “water” into the upper and lower parts of the structure and leave it to “dry”. When the resin sets well, carefully remove the formwork and cut the bumps in the resin with a clerical knife.

Step Four Making a waterfall
We make the waterfall directly, here we need an acrylic texture gel. Apply the gel with a brush to a piece of acrylic or a piece from a bottle. It is advisable to give the waterfall a slightly curved shape for more realism. We also glue the resulting waterfall with a texture gel to the top of the structure.

At the base of the waterfall we make “foam”, the author used synthetic cotton to simulate. We lay the material and cover with a texture gel. We also smear texture gel on both planes of “water”, this will be an imitation of ripples on the water.

Step Five The final
At the end, the author decorates the waterfall with plants, the role of which was approached by dry moss. To make everything look beautiful, you can gently blow the whole picture from above with varnish from a spray can. That's all, now the project is completely completed. The homemade product looks great, and if there is a backlight, it will be an excellent nightlight. The project is completed on this, I hope you liked the homemade work, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this. Do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!
