Digging trench motokosa



I welcome all fans to craft, I propose to consider instructions for the manufacture of machines for digging trenches do it yourself. Homemade the author made on the basis of a motor from a benzotrimmer, revs were reduced due to the reducer from the grinder. The machine easily digs shallow trenches, which can be used to organize irrigation and drainage systems, to dig drainage ditches and more. If the machine is slightly modernized, it can also be used as a cultivator. In the video you can see how everything works, and the author does not even have knives sharpened. Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- engine from a brushcutter;
- a reducer from a grinder at 230 or greater;
- Sheet steel;
- Details from a bicycle and other ferrous metal;
- wheels for a garden cart or the like.

Tool List:
- welding machine;
- grinder;
- vise;
- roulette;
- wrenches, screwdrivers;
- drill, drilling machine.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Parts preparation
We will prepare all the necessary details, for a start we will analyze the old grinder, from it we will need a gearbox that will lower the speed and increase the torque. The author also dismantled the reducer, we must have an anchor in our hands without anything superfluous.

As for motokosa, here we also remove everything superfluous, only the engine should remain. Motokosa has centrifugal clutch, the author replaced the clutch mounting bolts with classic ones with hexagonal heads.











Step Two Alteration of the gearbox
We take the anchor and cut it in half, from the anchor you need to knock out a piece of the axis, which is inserted into the gearbox. Next, this axis must be lengthened, or rather, welded to it the axis from the brushcutter, cut to the desired length. Of course, everything should be welded firmly and evenly. We grab the axis by welding and rotate, see if there are beats. To align the axes and weld everything exactly, you can find a steel pipe of such a diameter that the axles fit tightly there. Instead of welding, you can simply make a clamp from a piece of steel pipe.












For the gearbox, you also need to make a new part of the housing; such a part is usually made of sheet steel. In order for everything to work for a long time and reliably, it is recommended to put an additional support bearing on the axis. It is quite simple to make a holder for the bearing from a piece of a steel pipe.

Step Three Barbell
We also have to redo the motokosa rod, in which the shaft rotates.The bar needs to be shortened, the author has it made of steel. Having cut the bar, we weld it to the gear case. Before assembling, be sure to grease the shaft well with solid oil or other grease.




Step Four Knife
We make a knife that will dig a trench. Visually, it resembles the one that is used on cultivators for cultivation and so on. The base for the knife is made of thick sheet metal, you need to cut a circle. Of course, the easiest way to do this is with a plasma torch. Clearly in the center of the disc do not forget to drill a hole under the shaft of the grinder.

As knives, the author used steel plates that were bent in the form of the letter “G”. We weld the knives to the disk, not forgetting to sharpen them in advance, the author forgot about grinding at all.



Step Five Frame and assembly
We assemble the frame for the car, for this we need pipes, a bicycle handlebar, a steel axle and other details. Two wheels for trolleys are mounted on the frame. Of course, we make it on the mounting frame and for installing our motor with a knife, the author fastens it with the bolts that hold the centrifugal clutch housing.






Be sure to make a protective shield for the machine so that the earth does not fly at you and the motor. You can make such a shield of iron for roofs or similar thin sheet steel. To control the machine, we put the handle of the bicycle on the steering wheel, and connect the cable to the throttle. We start the car and you can test. The homemade product turned out to be workable, the author digs trenches in his garden, and the knives are dull.
For everything to work for a long time and without fail, you need to put additional bearings on the grinder gear. Since there will be big loads.

Probably the engine will screw up quickly. And the drive is even faster. But on the basis of the mole, an interesting idea. The mole itself is small, the shaft in front of it. If you take out some kind of drive forward and connect it to the shaft, it can work out.
But the main thing seems to me to be the right “knife”.
